Milanista Carles Puyol 'happy' to face Milan

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has admitted that he is looking forward to their last 16 Champions League tie with Milan.

The Catalan club face Massimiliano Allegri's men on Wednesday February 20 at San Siro before the return leg three weeks later in Spain.

And the 34-year-old centre-back has conceded that he is happy with the prospect of facing the Rossoneri.

“I am very happy,” he told reporters. “I said the other week that I wanted Milan, not because they are easy, but because I've always liked them.

“It is going to be a very nice tie.

“Our familiarity with Milan is neither good nor bad. We know each other but also some of the other rivals.

“The knockout games are always very complicated. Anyway, it's a long way away.”


No secret how much puyi loves Milan as its the only club he would join if he left Barca.
Here's hoping for Galliani to snatch Puyi before the tie.

He knows how mediocre Bojan is.

Puyol and Maldini are good friends apparently

“I have been to training with the best defender in the history, my idol Paolo Maldini: the phenomenon,” Puyol tweeted to the fans, in Spanish, through his official Twitter account – @Carles5puyol.

Its that summer where Xavi, Iniesta, Puyi, Pep, Pique all met Maldini.

Guardiola tried to persuade Paolo for a directorial role in Barcelona but Maldini refused. He also dedicated the CL final victory to Maldini.

"I dedicate this to Italian football and Paolo Maldini, who need not worry because he has the admiration of all of Europe," the victorious boss told RAI Sport.

"I'm experiencing a great joy, it's been a pleasure to win it in Roma, a hug to all Italians," he said in conclusion.

Puyol is a legend. Not just because he'll be regarded as a technically gifted CB but also his loyalty, determination and fair play. Never seen anyone, even opposition, say anything bad about him.
