Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
Not buying that SES will rot on the bench this year. Its a long season and plenty of things happen. Players go up and down, injuries occur, and so on. SES is just as good as Bernardo Silva and the rest of them when hes given the opportunity, and it will come. Hes still getting use to the team and what the coach wants from him. Clearly he was never going to jump straight into a solid, established team.

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
He's not as good as Bernardo Silva or Cavaleiro... no way on that one. Both those kids are phenoms. Martial and Carrillo are both extremely good too. It's just not going to be handed to SES at all especially since he's been the least impressive of the bunch in preseason. He needs to impress.
That said, as long as Monaco remains in all comps, there will be plenty of chances. It will get tough if Monaco starts getting eliminated in the different cups though.
Bernardo Silva was suspended for this game and SES still didn't start... Jardim went defensive with Dirar in his place. Carrillo came in first too... he cames in at the 71st min while SES was brought on in the 83rd.

Why is it that I have never heard of Bernardo Silva or Cavaleiro?
Here's why?
Cavaleiro - 3 goals in 34 games for Deportivo.
Bernardo Silva - 9 goals in 32 games for Monaco.
These guys undoubtedly have potential, but at the moment they are relative nobodies compared to SES. And that's no exaggeration.

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
In fairess, one might also argue that El Shaarawy has 4 goals in 30 appearances in the past two seasons. I'm unfamiliar with the other two players however so I'm not in a position to argue who might be superior but given that Monaco are in multiple competitions I would expect a fair degree of rotation.
I find it difficult to believe that El Shaarawy would be benched due to concern over the defensive stability of the side once he's had more time to gel with the squad though, he's practically a second fullback.

I think we can forgive SES' stats in his injury ravaged period, but let's not pretend that a couple of under 21s are going to bench a player that Monaco is going to pay 15 million euros for, that's just absurd.

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
True, I'm in no way doubting his potential but we've seen with El Shaa that going for a long time without scoring is quite a mental burden. Though he did shake that off upon his most recent return, there are a lot of factors, physical condition aside, that can affect performance and he must prove himself all over again in a new team and league.
I've no doubt he'll rise to the challenge though if he stays fit.

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
Silva and cavaleiro are playmakers supreme, not scorers... Which is the problem. SES is really competing with Martial, the starting CF, and Carrillo, the Argentinian kid. Both have been nothing of superb in preseason and the first game and are uber talented.
I'm just reporting the facts. I truly wish SES the best as I really like him. But the fact is that he's starting behind and the players in front of him are young and equally, if not more, talented.

A part of me wishes he doesn't do well so Monaco won't sign him outright but that will do no one a favour cause knowing our management, they will still look to ship him out next season and it's gonna be for a much lower fee

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
I believe Monaco are obligated to sign him if he makes over 15 appearances for them, even if he plays like sh*t. So, he's pretty much gone, unless he has some next injury which prevents him from making those 15 appearances.

Arguably worse, that would likely be the last nail in the Pato coffin.

I hope he does well for Monaco.
Hopefully he actually realizes his potential and play well for Italy in the future. Milan doesn't deserve success the way they have been managed. Literally the worst managed team in Italy.

What a surprise, he starts playing consistently and he explodes
One thing I hate about Miha is the way he treated SES in pre season, that's clearly what drove him away.

Not sure if it was only Mihajlovic's fault. I feel like SES himself wanted to leave as well, and of course talk about him being switched to CM or whatever probably didn't help.
But after his Monaco move failed, I'm sure Mihajlovic would've gladly taken him back, since we're actually playing with a system he could work very well in, but never seemed like he was interested in returning to Milan.

Yup. He wanted to leave. Roma were the only team interested so he went there.
I'm happy he's doing well but with the amount of times I've seen this kid start strong then drop off hard I really doubt he'll keep this form. Also, no way we would have seen this kind of form from him if he stayed here. And yes, we can still get him back, he's still our player.

Well if he continues to play like this till the end of the season then I doubt Roma would pass up on the 13m option to buy they have.

Re: The Pharoah - El Shaarawy
I'd have loved to have him as an SS in our current set up but we don't use a formation that plays to his strengths and we really can't tell how he would have thrived considering he's had his finest displays as a LWF in a 433 system where he can cut in and shoot, find a pass or use his pace to great effect
