Like it or not, he was. The fans genuinely loved the guy when he was banging them in as we thought we'd found a goalscorer that would Henry's boots. But he went ahead and ruined it by trying to get other, bigger (admittedly) clubs to try and sign him.

That's a cardinal sin for any footballer to commit.

In the end he wasn't sold because of his bad form - we're not really known as a club that sells for that reason - but for his poor attitude and relationships with other players and the fans.

He was a good footballer once upon a time. His attitude ruined him although I guess the years have sobered him up a bit.

In this board you will find much hate because of all the Arsenal fans, with due reason as they have already explained. The rest, well, he's a meh footballer nowadays. We chose Bendtner ahead of him... end of story.

Yeah, what goonerjay says makes good sense to me.

I mean, Wenger is willing to let Denilson do very little (no offence) and he hasnt been let go, Bendtner you could level that at too and still Wenger seems content in letting him stick around, Ade was carted off not because of just his place but clearly his attitude too.

Ade and Bendtner were on non speaking terms weren't they? Didnt he also reportedly get into a fight or some kind with Kolo Toure?

Number 1 was a joke, there was no need for guys to get sand in their vagina about it.

Number 2 was via the fact that someone was sad enough to neg rep a joke.

Why you guys so defensive about nothing? Nick seems cool with it..he didnt mind the harmless joke.

I didn't say he was arrogant, just making an observation. Someone said CR wasn't arrogant as portrayed by the media because they haven't personally met him, yet they judge adebayor off a one minute clip in the locker room

I can't remember if he had a problem with Toure, but he and Bendtner had a bad relationship. I think they nearly came to blows on the pitch once. Not sure why - probably just a clash or two massive egos and arrogant persoanlities - but yeah, it was a pretty bad relationship.

Perhaps non-surprinslgy though, Adebayor was and still is on very good terms with the African players at the club. I think there was once this African "clique" in the dressing room, which seemingly disbanded when Adebayor and Toure left.

Ultimately, once you've sullied your relationship with the fans, you're days are numbered bar a miraculous recovery of Emmanuel Eboue proportions.

I agree it is grey area indeed, but still unnecessary imo.

Anyway, I agree that his behaviour in the Classico wasn't the biggest sign of maturity, but I meant more that he learned to handle authority better etc.
He trained hard, he worked hard, during his time at Madrid.

How can people say he "matured" and "changed" when he was at Madrid for about four months? It was all rosy and peachy when he moved to City, too. Then the honeymoon was over and before you knew it, he was starting pit fights with Toure and Tevez and Kompany and slacking off

Had he stayed longer at Real, you would've all seen the real side of Mr Ade

He seems to be getting quite a few offers from pretty decent clubs that are pretty much set to let him start every game and he keeps turning them down. Plus the crap he has done before and how lazy hes work rate has been some times with City and Arsenal, I have absolutely no reason to feel bad for the guy

He should of accepted the PSG offer since they seem to be building a nice squad. Instead he might end up riding out the bench next season

Nice guy at Madrid. But really a very meh player. Thank god for him he had that one game against the Spurs. Otherwise, he would've had zero impact.

As long as you expect him to score with his head, you're on to something. If you're going to rely on his feet, might as well ask John Terry to be your CF.
