Is Arteta the best DM in EPL?

Since Lucas hasnt made a comeback yet, is Arteta the best piece of DM in EPL, hence the world? lol

Yes, although i do think he looks significantly worse without Diaby or some sort of physical presence alongside him.

yeah i always wondered if it wasnt best to define him as a defensive CM with very good anticipation.

That's like calling Busquets a CM their roles are exactly the same.

This is whole you don't break legs and give the ball away with every 5 seconds so you can't be a DM is getting a bit annoying tbh.

Busquets is a pure DM with passing abilities.

Arteta is a CM but playing as a Regista this season.

IMO he is the best in the PL but he is better with Diaby next to him because that doesn't put him under too much pressure

Toure can do the job when played there.

Lucas wouldn't require a partner as much as Arteta does because Lucas can handle Physicality. Arteta struggled a bit against Diame because Ramsey couldn't do anything defensively. We were Lucky Diarra was injured

I think it has to do more with the fact that Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain are his partners when Diaby isn't there. And I don't rate Ramsey/Oxlade-Chamberlain as CM's/box-to-box, neither knows the role well enough and both constantly put their team-mates on pressure which effects Arteta's game aswell.

Looks so much better when he has someone physical like a Song or Diaby. Probably is the best in his position in the PL... Still probably won't get the NT callup though...

DM? The same misconception comes with Xabi that he is a DM just because of his impressive defensive skills and the fact that he plays in a deeper position.

Arteta is along the same lines who has technical defensive skill that complements his superb play making.

Arteta especially this season has a lot more defensive shoulder to burden with Coquelin barely playing and the his complimentary partner Diaby not there to shoulder the defensive pressure. Which is why I also resent Ramsey playing because do to his poor decision making and positioning on field (Ramsey) subdues Arteta's effectiveness greatly as Mikel looks best with the all rounded Diaby.

So his position can be classified as a standard Regista with defensive burden on him. I still feel he is at his best at AM with his close control and pin-point through balls yet his original Guardiola role suits him.
