Tottenham Could Miss Out On Top Target, As Juventus Swoop For Willian
Old Lady keen on Willian.
Andre Villas-Boas could miss out on Shakhtar Donetsk schemer Willian this January – with Juventus in pole position to sign him.
The Spurs manager’s interest in the Brazilian is long-standing and goes back to the previous winter transfer window when he was in charge of Chelsea.
AVB was keen to sign the Shakhtar star then, but failed to convince Roman Abramovich to part with the cash required to land him.
The 24-year-old is valued at around £25m, although the Ukrainian side are holding out for closer to £30m for him – a price that has put off Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
But Juventus, the reigning Serie A champions, believe they can sign the attacker when the transfer window opens. It is understood Juve officials made contact with Shakhtar following the 1-1 draw between the two sides in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Shakhtar forward Willian has made no secret of his desire to leave the Ukrainian outfit for the Premier League, with Chelsea and Tottenham both reportedly keen on the winger.
The Blues had a £22m bid for William rejected in July, while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy flew to Donetsk in August to personally negotiate Willian’s sale but returned to London empty handed.
The 24-year-old joined Shakhtar as a 19-year-old and rightly feels he has outgrown the club. Willian is an attacking right-sider, who can also play up front, and he would fit perfectly into Andre Villas-Boas’s 4-3-3 system at White Hart Lane, alongside Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale.
The Portuguese was also the man who first introduced Willian’s name at Stamford Bridge but it is unclear whether the European Champions will return with a renewed offer.
If the interest from Juve is genuine, it is a blow to Spurs who were understood to be keen to return with a fresh bid in January.
Juve have been searching for forward reinforcements for some time but have mainly been chasing traditional centre-forwards, such as Fernando Llorente, Robin van Persie and Dimitar Berbatov, making a move for Willian a surprising change of policy.

Excellent player, I will admitt I have only seen him about 8 times but he's impressed me in that time. As long as we play him as a ss not in the same midfield as Pirlo.

not to be a downer, but doesn't this sound familiar [juve's last couple of runs in europe]? juve don't get a result they hoped for in europe. a few days later a player from recent opposition is linked w/ juve.
he seems like a nice player, but i don't see it happening. i could be wrong though.
