Maradona presents criminal charges against the Argentine FA head Julio Grondona
- Spoiler:
- Former Argentina coach Diego Maradona has presented criminal charges against Argentine FA head Julio Grondona and the former administration of River Plate, and called on them to explain the circumstances that led to the Buenos Aires giants going down to the B Nacional.
Los Andes confirmed that the Al-Wasl coach, and lifelong Boca fan's lawyer Alejandro Sanchez Kalbermatten handed in a criminal complaint on Monday evening against the parties mentioned above, who include former River president Jose Maria Aguilar, accusing them of fraudulent administration of the club.
The official complaint further alleges that mismanagement at the Nunez institution was committed intentionally by Grondona and Aguilar's administration, leading to River's disastrous financial situation and descent to the second-tier on Sunday, and asked the courts to call the implicated parties forward to testify.
"There were unjustified, agreed and premeditated oversights," the complaint begins.
"In light of this situation, intervention by the judiciary is essential. Those responsible for River Plate's direction and also the direction of Argentine football, that is the AFA, have been acting illicitly and as a result, have hurt the club, deepening the crisis and leading them to relegation from their category."
The statement finishes by requesting that Grondona and Aguilar be subpoenaed to give evidence and explain their actions involving River Plate. Neither party has commented on the case, which will be presided by judge Claudio Bonadio.
Wow for him to defend his rival club, thats really something, atleast someone has the balls to stand up to these corrupt mobsters.

The general impression I get is that this a publicity stunt and he has 0 proof. That being said, Maradona proved he can be a great demagogue.
