Fiorentina vs Juventus 25/9/12
Thought I would make a match thread so we have a place to comment..
Fiorentina looking pretty dangerous so far.. Really hope we can kick it into gear soon or they're gonna take the game over.

For me it looked like a clear penalty, to be honest

Re: Fiorentina vs Juventus 25/9/12
perfect tackle got the ball than Ljaic fell down after the ball was pushed ... When the ball was pushed there was no contact nothing while doing the run Ljaic fell down by the inertion and the small contact AFTER the ball was out of the pitch .ie. gamedronte wrote:For me it looked like a clear penalty, to be honest

Juve can't seem to hit the ground running lately. Giovinco + Quags seem to occupy the same space and both play fairly deep it doesn't work for me. Also, Marchisio is missed in that midfield although I like Giac he doesn't give the same assurance. Barzagli has been hit and miss.

A tense first half so far. Giovinco is being very selfish, he needs to be taken off and bring on Vucinic in his place.
Quags is trying hard so far, he seems he does not have understanding with Gio who is shooting all night.
Barzagli and Vidal are most impressive Juve players in the first half. Giaccherini is good, but we need to bring Marchiso in his place.
Looking forward to an exciting second half.

Terrible display going forward. Not one moment where I thought a Juve goal was coming. Not good enough.
That being said, I see Fiorentina away being our hardest fixture bar Napoli away this season and we got 1 point.
Quag + Gio won't work. Our passing was very mediocre at best this evening. Not many positives I can see from that game apart from staying unbeaten.

This was one of the toughest games of the season...I think we ground out a good result today! Vucinic-Gio is the best combo for me and I hope to see that against Roma! Pogba is going to be a great player!

Pogba is nothing more than excellent DM he is not Pirlo's sub and he won't be.
Gio must be benched that guys is so selfish.
Today Bendtner should have played or Matri + Vuci

Knew this game would be tricky coming in. We played poor but getting a point away against Fiorentina is an ok result.. Just didnt like seeing us play that way.
We've pretty much been relying on the same squad since the season started, we really need to see pepe and isla back into the rotation and maybe let asamoah rotate with marchisio and vidal.
We also need another option in attack.. we're lost without vucinic.
lets hope bendtner gets a chance soon

Re: Fiorentina vs Juventus 25/9/12
I was at this game while on my honeymoon. The environment was intense and Fiorentina wanted it more. Very tough game for Juve coming off 3 games in less than 7 days. They looked tired and it was a tough place to play. Juve was very fortunate with the draw. Hardly any fans showed up in the Juve section. I couldn't wear any Juve stuff where I was sitting of my wife and I would have been thrown out.

Great analysis by Zonalmarking

A goalless draw was never assured as Fiorentina went close on an number of occasions, but the 0-0 was always a possibility simply because of the lack of attacking players in the final third. Giovinco and Ljajic were given huge creative responsibility – Ljajic was brighter yet typically frustrating, offering good movement and clever dribbling, but being booked for diving and missing the game’s best chance.
Fiorentina were more positive and better in almost every area. Pizarro outshone Pirlo, the wing-backs played higher up the pitch, the two forwards were more involved, there was more attacking urgency from the centre-backs.
Juve were underwhelming, but illustrated why they’re on such a long unbeaten run with a battling, committed display.

I'm ok with this result...
Fiorentina has been one of the best team so far this season.
if they continue like this throughout the season, the will make a Champions League spot...
If when everyone else play badly, they lose but when Juve play badly, we draw, then we in for a great season!

Not to be negative or anything, I think this game showed that Pirlo can't stand the tensity of three competitions, I think this puts Juventus in a spot where to get the best out of Pirlo, he has to play once a week, maximum twice when he is needed to or you lose your most powerful asset.
It'll be good for the development of Pogba and other youngsters.

Good thing we have multiple quality passers on our team such as Marchisio, Bonucci, Vidal, etc.
Hopefully Pogba can fulfill Pirlo's deep role and other youngsters like Marrone get a chance.

Bonucci is actually a great passer...
Last season had a better pass rate than Pirlo...

Re: Fiorentina vs Juventus 25/9/12
John Terry had a passing percentage of more than 90%. That doesn't make him a great passer. I think Pirlo must be used how Scholes has been used for the past 2 or 3 seasons. If only Pirlo had the physique to go with his ability...
