Vidic out for 2 months

Uniteds best defender out again! How will this effect United? Can Somone slot in and replace him? Will these two months impact Uniteds title challenge?



Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will be out for two months after undergoing knee surgery.

The defender, who missed most of last season with cruciate ligament damage, has had a meniscus operation on his right knee.

Vidic was left out of United's 2-1 win at Anfield on Sunday, and a subsequent scan brought bad news for the Serbian.

A United club statement said: "Sir Alex (Ferguson), as a precautionary measure, rested Vidic at the weekend, after he complained of tightness in his knee, however, further medical investigation revealed the underlying problem."

It comes as a major blow for United, who are already without England defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

Vidic is likely to miss Premier League games against Tottenham, Newcastle, Stoke, Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Norwich and QPR, plus Champions League matches against Cluj, Braga and Galatasaray.

he will be back in 4 weeks. SAF always over exaggerates the injury to make his rivals think they are in trouble and out of nowhere the play comes back on an important day

so no vidic, no decent fullbacks, no midfield, they will still get over 80 points

Knee surgery in 4 weeks would be nice but I doubt it.

Fletcher is supposed to be back in the squad.

United will have problems without a decent CB!

They played almost whole of last season without Vidic and nearly won the league, not a big deal.

Rio is better than Vidic

Idk he's old and I don't think it's the same Rio anymore. Knowing the trend he might be on the sidelines sometime this season as well!

smalling should be back within 2 weeks, jones will be back by end of october....just need rio and evans to hold strong until some reinforcements arrive.

Really? Milan played with their 2nd team bar Ibrahimovic for a whole month, even with their 3rd string players! They also had five players out for half a year with heart, knee and even eye problems!

Arsenal or United are on the same page imo.

Carrick at CB get in

I think we've started to hire some of Arsenal's medical staff the way things are going... we just need Rio & Evans to hold the fort. Couple more weeks Smalling gets back, and a little way down the road Phil Jones should be fine too.
