With players we want to sell and they refusing to leave.

Who can provide a detail of their contracts?

Im sure there is a gap in those contracts because this is only happening at Arsenal dealing with average players who simply refusing to leave permanently.

Arsene Wenger was determined to sell Bendtner, Park, Arshavin, Squillaci in this summer but none of these players have been sold.

Almunia was invisible for a year and still got paid by Arsenal, thats lots of money for a 'Cancer Causing' player.

Right now we have:

Bendtner

Chamakh

Park

Denilson

Squillaci

Arshavin

?

Why is it hard to get rid of these players??

Squllaci and Arshavin's contracts run out this year, June 2013.

Denilson, Bendtner, Chamakh contracts run out in June of 2014

Park Chu-Young's contract expires in June of 2015.

Players' wages can prove a huge stumbling block. No one wants to pay an aging mediocre GK the wages a huge club like us were paying him. Same goes with Squillaci. On Bendtner, Chamakh and Arshavin, perhaps Wenger still has some kind of plans for them this year, the latter two that is. Unless he miraculously hits a fantastic vein of form this will probably be Arshavin's last year in an Arsenal shirt.

Squillaci will obviously be let go.

It's not that these players don't want to leave. It's that clubs are very reluctant to buy them because their wages are higher than what their level of quality would suggest.

It is not a problem that Arsenal have exclusively. It's pretty much a universal problem, made more problematic by players not willing to take pay-cuts.

If you sum the wages of these players plus possible sell on fees.

We could buy three world class players with that money.

Bad management.

C'mon man every football club has this problem, you can't win in transfers all the time. All these players other than Park were supposed to be great players.

Wenger pays more for kids and less for established players. So it's natural that his fail rate is higher than the elite clubs. HOWEVER, since Arsenal develops so much talent internally; they save a ton by not needing transfers.

For example, imagine having to buy players like Sagna, Vermaelen, Cesc, Nasri, RVP, etc; if they were in their primes.

The monies saved far outpace the monies wasted.

BUt ti do think the equation is too skewed in favor of kids. There's that lack of elite quality that keeps Arsenal out of trophies. For example, if Arsenal had paid RVP his wage demands, ARsenal would be the favorite to win the EPL this year imo.

Sao Paolo is 100% paying Denilson's wages, not sure about Bendtner and Park. Arsenal let Squillaci talk with clubs like Bastia and Olympiakos but couldn't agree a deal (he wont take a pay-cut ) same with Arshavin: he will rather pocket that money, Chamakh is still in Arsene's plans I think.

There's a reason why Arsenal doesn't agree long-term contracts with older players. I think they're working hard to get rid of these players (by loaning them, offering to other clubs etc) but some just don't want to move or don't want to take a pay-cut.

Arsenal had a strategy of offering more to young players as part of an incentive to stay for longer. The plan was that during that time, they can grow into great players and we wouldn't have to hand out as many contract renewals.

It's risky, since it was highly dependant on the likes of Denilson and Bendtner fulfilling their potential. But since they didn't, the strategy backfired.

With regards to players like Squillaci and Chamakh, £50k is about average for a top club to be paying their players. We paid them that much with the expectation they'd be good players. I don't think anyone would be complaining about how much they earn if they were good players. So at the time of signing, I don't think it was bad management to give them those wages. It turned out to be a mistake since they fell way short of expectations and you can't always foresee that happening.

After doing little research on google about our wage structure, I found this blog... Not credible but some figures are surprisingly bad if true.

My opinion is that the chief problem with the club has nothing to do with the amount of money spent, but rather who it's been spent on. The key word is, WASTAGE.

Take the following 15 players, all of which have completely failed to live up to expectations: Arshavin, Walcott, Almunia, Squillaci, Rosicky, Bendtner, Chamakh, Diaby, Denilson, Djourou, Fabianski, Traore, Park, Gibbs, Mannone.

Add up the wage expenditure of that lot from between the 1-5 years of their employment at Arsenal and you will find £184,000,000 has been thrown down the toilet and another £46,300,000 blown on transfer fees. Have they really been worth £230,300,000 of your money dear Gooner?

Club denying Wenger funds? Or is it ALL down to Wenger losing the plot and paying silly money/ludicrous wages for his ego trip - better know as "project youth" - and average players imbibed with bad tactics that he can no longer motivate or improve?

We got Chamakh for free and we can get our money back and I am sure Bendtner repaid us for his wages, he scored some important goals for us 2 years back to get into CL. eco smile

This guy is clearly exaggerating though. Of every player listed, only Squillaci, Traore and Park were completely disappointing, and Traore was often on loan. Even Almunia was originally just a backup keeper and was decent in that role. All of the other guys listed have had their moments, with some of them being key members of our squad today, and the others' failures not being foreseeable.

But yeah this is what happens in a world of contracts. Too long and you risk the guy becoming shit and not leaving, too short and you risk him being good and leaving for nothing Neutral

this list is absolute nonsense.. Wengers ability to get quality players for little money is universally accepted and he is atleast one of the best in this regard if no the best.. no one can foresee injuries or guarantee that players will fulfill their potential..
Rosicky and Diaby has been integral part of the first team and had only fallen back due to injuries..
Remember the immediate impact that Arshavin and Chamakh made..
Gibbs & Mannone.. lol.. see them this season ?
Denilson and Bendtner were fantastic prospects in their initial seasons but later failed to keep up their progress..
Djurou and Fabianski are still good backups..
the only failures i see are Squilaci and Park.. they were bought just to be backups..
and do u want to talk about the successful list of Wenger signings ?Laughing
Every big club will have similar problems, surely at a higher level than us...
