well hummels is a great CB and in his mid-late 20's will possibly be one of the top2 CBs in the world but not now. he needs to work on his attitude, all the praise got to his head and he seems to think he's a ballmagnet and can do miracles - as shown by that way to "optimistic" challenge against cassano at the Euros.

i think there should be balance in wingbacks. alves and marcelo are great attackingly but they do have thier defensive flaws. i say:

Lahm___Pepe___Chielini___Cole

as much as i dislike pepe he has been playing like one of the best CBs this year so far. probably the best.

kompany on the other hand looked like a traffic cone against ronaldo.

Is the debate about which back 4 would be the hardest to score on, or which back 4 would be the most talented overall? If it's about pure defensive ability, I would go with:
Sagna - Kompany - Silva - Chiellini

But if it's about overall talent, I would go with:
Alves - Kompany - Hummels - Lahm

Only a few games into the season, I'm not quite as convinced as some others that Kompany isn't as good anymore...

People really need to understand that one of the key ingredients of a centre back's makeup is discipline. Pepe's discipline is absolutely appalling. Prone to lashing out when things aren't going his way and resorts to stamping/kicking/elbowing people when his team is losing. How people can refer to him as the best CB in the world when he's temperament is no better than that of a 9 year old is beyond me.

I'd have Kompany ahead of him all day long
