Dinho. He was more influential during his prime.

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
Like i said before I rate Ronnie at his peak higher than Messi today so id pick peak Ronaldinho with my eyes closed. However if i'm leading a long term project then Messi is a no brainer.
so to put it in simple words:
Peaks: Ronaldinho
Overall: Messi

Messi, and it's not even close:
- Better goal scorer
- Better passer
- Better creator
- Better team player
- Better big game player
- More clutch

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
Lio Messi by a nautical mile.
Sadly Messi haters will post stuff like:
- Ronnie can triple sunday flip flap elastico and Messi can't.
-Ronnie can use his right foot better
-Roonie is love
-Ronnie is magic
-Ronnie is the reason I started watching football
-Ronnie received a standing ovation at Bernebeu
-Ronnie plays with a smile on his face.
Messi, prime or not prime has far surpassed him.

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
What Ronaldinho can do that Messi cant? Maybe smiling
What Messi can do that Ronaldinho cant? Scoring, long dribblings and way way more markers
Where you can play Ronaldinho? in the middle of the pitch (a playmaker)
Where you can play Messi? Wherever you want in attack. He can be your world class playmaker and world class scorer
Would Mourinho get scared from Ronaldinho as much as Messi? No. When he stops Messi he wins the games

ronnie is more flashy, but doesnt have nearly as much end product as messi. messi is comfortably better. infact its an insult to messi to compare them imo.

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
Messi is probably better in every aspect but entertainment. Football was meant to be entertaining and Ronadinho is the King of that.
I would personally choose Ronaldinho every time because he wouldn't cry about another superstar taking the spotlight away from him, he'd relish it. Messi would whine if I chose to play a different way that does't fit his strengths.
Messi is a better player, but no way in hell would I ever pass on Ronnie for Messi.

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
I think Lionel Messi is better, for the reasons already stated. Statistically it isn't close, consistency, again, not close. In terms of who was more entertaining, well they say that beauty if in the eyes of the beholder, so that varies.
Messi is the player of this generation for me.
Ronaldinho was a player I really enjoyed watching, truly one of a kind, but I just don't put him at Messi's level.
As for who I would rather have in my team, it would be Messi. I think you can depend on him a lot longer, considering Ronaldinho's prime. Messi has become just as marketable if not more marketable. And I think he would deliver greater results over a larger time frame.

That is pretty much final. C.Ronaldo, Dinho or any other player for the past few decades can be compared to Messi. Dinho is no expection. He was entertaining. No doubt!

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
ronaldinho for me is the most creative player to ever play the game.
but.. as that is not the only faucet of the game messi wins it by a fair margin. messi has better pace, is a better dribbler and a better finisher than dinho ever was at his peak.
its a shame that ronaldinho did not have the longevity at the top that many wished he would have. i still remember the 3-0 thrashing where dinho received the standing ovation at the bernabeu that type of respect is not present in todays football.

Would rather have messi in my team than dinho tbh. Dinho had a spark of genius, but in a 90min match i think messi contributes more overall

His NT career would imply that that is 250% BS. Messi has constantly been played out of position and he has NEVER whined about it. And while in Barca he has played in almost every attacking position on the pitch...
And when has he ever cried when another superstar took his place in the spotlight? Ibra? Thats odd cause Ibra, a guy who has no problem telling what he feels about someone even if it is not a nice thing to say, has said nothing but nice things about Messi since he left Barca. And need I remind you that Messi had/has a great relationship with Dinho, Deco, Eto'o, Iniesta and Xavi at Barca and has a great relationship with Aguero, Higuain, Lavezzi in the NT?
Saying that he thinks he would play better through the middle is not whining about another superstar taking his place, especially not if he proves it right...
On topic, dinho was more magical but that is about it. Everything else Messi is ahead by a big margin...

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
IMO Dinho was a better passer(long/short)... and his vision was maybe better. Messi's edges him in dribbling and finishing, but Dinho had a better touch. The brazilian was also a FK specialist.

Dinho was a better long passer but noway was he a better short passer. And a better touch is arguably...
Forgot about the freekick, though.

I find that you may be mistaken. Long passes he has better yes though short passes no. Definately no. A better touch? Like kick and run touch? Definately questionable...

Re: Ronaldinho vs Messi
Messi by a fair bit.
Both will create goals for other team mates & have the ability to go past players & pull a rabbit out of the hat in the blink of n eye but Messi will score loads more goals & IMO can play in more positions while still being effective, Messi is a better team player too, I`m not saying Ronnie is not a team player because he can be but Messi is a better one & is just more complete.

Well, I havent read Ibras book so I am going mostly what has been said on the Internet about the book, but wasnt the only "bad" thing that he said about the players in Barca that they were like schoolboys? And honestly I dont see anything wrong being call a schoolboy. That just shows you that, unlike Ibra, the Barca players have their feet on the ground and listen to the coach. Like most professional player should do.
And the things that he has said after leaving Barca and doing, he seems to be very close to the players.

Add Cruyff to that list... but lets keep to purpose of the thread... yes, Messi is better than Ronaldinho & its not that close, I`d easily choose him over Ronnie.
