Mourinho about Conte
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho says he has no problem with Antonio Conte being described as the Italian Special One. “I’m honoured.”
Conte led Juventus to the Scudetto last season after leaving little Siena for the club he performed for as a player.
“I like that the fans call Conte the Italian Special One,” Mourinho, the original Special One, told Tuttosport. “I feel honoured.”
The former midfielder impressed onlookers with his tactics last term, but also with the way he was able to fire up his side.
“I like Conte a lot as a Coach,” Mourinho added. “He is a bit like me. He knows what he wants and is a real winner. He has a lot of charisma.”
Conte is currently serving a 10-month touchline ban as part of the match fixing sentences, but the Portuguese tactician expects the Old Lady to do well on their return to Europe’s top club competition.
“Can Juventus surprise in the Champions League? Let's not kid anyone, Juventus are a big team in Europe and it would be absolutely normal if they go far in the competition,” Mou underlined.
“The surprise would be if they go all the way and win the Champions League after not playing in Europe last year. But it would not surprise me at all if they make it to the quarters or semi-finals.”
-------------------------
Says the world's best coach.. Who also said that Italy will go far at euro's when all the" experts" were with Holland, Germany etc

Re: Mourinho about Conte
No Conte isn't like him. I appreciate that Mourinho finally praises someone aside from himself yet unlike Mourinho, Conte has class and is a far better leader as both are traits which Mourinho is weak at. Lets not forget Conte actually plays football which isn't boring, safe and uninspiring.
Mourinho at the moment is the better manager obviously but given Conte's start its un-quantifiable.

Oh my Gil I've had far worse
But theres a difference between being a very very good manager/tactician and being a leader.
Mourinho fits in the former. A leader he is not as anyone who has studied leadership can tell you he has as many leadership traits as Stewart Clowning.

Re: Mourinho about Conte
should wait and see how he fares couple of more seasons in tough competition
he had his fair ammount of struggling at his previous teams as well as signs of mou "charisma" with bari, siena and now juve

Re: Mourinho about Conte
also players always trusted mou, he is successful at everything regarding him and his players from effective communication to what he demands on the pitch and what he gets
how players treat him and him leading the team to success,
how he acts in order to maintain peace and good morale on the team no matter the consequences on him is a sign of true leadership as well

Ninis I will have to correct you here. Conte hasn't struggled in any of his clubs.
His time in Arrezo cannot be counted as he was handed his interim coaching position with short notice with a team out of its depth even in the Serie B. The results were moderate to disappointing but he was known for getting the best out of the mentality in players and doing superbly in his short time given to him.
Bari was a resounding success as he had his team crowned Serie B champions followed by some magnificently attractive displays in Serie A. He left the club on mutual consent as his gap to the team is felt to this day.
Atalanta was tricky as the fans did not like from the start given his Juve connection as despite having them play some great football with solid results, the team went downhill due to a massive sell-off, injuries and a near violent relationship with the fans. Most Calcio experts panned Atalanta for letting him go.
Siena was obvious as with a poor squad he had them back to Serie A with some great football yet again.
Of course then there is his Juve tenure.
Point of it all is to show his ability to get the best out of poor squads whilst playing attacking football
All in all I do agree that he must play in the upper echelons of Europe now (Champions League) to further prove himself.

Re: Mourinho about Conte
Considering how successful Mourinho is I can only imagine how much more he could have achieved if he "had class and leadership and an entertaining, risky and inspiring style".
Truth is there are lots of guys who are exciting but that doesn't really fill your trophy cabinet with anything.

Re: Mourinho about Conte
He's also culprit in a couple of trophies that we've won so I'm willing to let that slide.

Always liked Mou, great personality. Yeah he managed Inter can't hold it against him. I mean, look at who Capello managed before Juventus.
