Who will take the elections?
Re: Let the campaign begin!
When it comes to election predicting, I stay as far away from the media as I can. Individuals polls are very fallible, polling averages, on the other hand, are a much better indicator of whats actually going on/whats going to happen if you ask me
If you want to know what the likelihood really is for Candidate X is to win, the best place to go is actually to the bookies, the people whose only objective is to make as much money as possible, and as such are above the political white noise that colors other peoples opinions.
Here they are:
Also Nate Silver's 538 forecast is up to 80% Obama

Funny you bring up bookie odds, just threw down 20 for the Dems on 365 last night
Also, I can't believe Christie's praise for Obama for handling the Sandy storm as best he could is such a hot topic

The GOP feel outright betrayed by Christie...it's rather hilarious considering they're losing a lot of their elections at the moment. Bitterness like this is all they have left.

Intrade and nate silver are best. Saying that election day is always different because of turnout.

Re: Let the campaign begin!
Anyone who votes for Romney is a moron. Our unemployment rate went down from 12% to 7.5%, we stopped the wars in iraq and Afghanistan, we killed osama (whether this is true or not doesn't matter in the end as osama was found dead DURING obama's presidency), has promoted education way more then the previous administration [bush] by funding universities, also, obama is also currently looking for more sustainable and clean energy sources instead UNLIKE romney, looking to harm to enviorment and look for even more oil domestically, and if it weren't for some of the knuckleheads in congress, he would have raised the taxes on the rich, and rightfully so. Does the highest shareholder of mcdonalds really need a few extra hundred million dollars?
Plus, why should we vote for the republicans YET again after 8 years of bullshit, and after reagan and george bush and his son? Open your eyes and stop rooting blindly for the evil side.
I realize I am a far lefty, but what I said is 100% true.

You're not going to win anyone to your side by starting your argument calling everyone who disagrees a "moron".

Have you met any Mitt Romney supporters? You have a better chance of winning a brick wall to your side than one of those lot, so it doesn't really matter in the end..
In a perfect world I would agree whole-heartedly with your view, but I am not being hyperbolic when I say that these people seem to live in a separate reality or alternate universe from the rest of us...
I have literally yet to hear a thoughtful, logic-based, reasonable argument for why anyone should support Mitt Romney...

Thanks for the video Red, I enjoyed it.
I don't know enough about him probably, but FDR is probably my favorite president next to Lincoln. He's not taught/praised enough in school, from my experience.
Looking forward to seeing how it all ends tomorrow. Confident of an Obama victory.

Get ready for President Romney, I hope that the Obama groupies will be as lazy in voting as they are at working.

Re: Let the campaign begin!
Let's not pretend that this election is about facts, the US will get thoroughly raped by big business no matter who wins.
The only difference is basically if you want the poor to have rudimentary support (Obama), or have big business grow even more powerful and hope that something trickles down (Romney), other than that they won't differ much, except that Obama kills a lot of people with drones, and Romney will resume Bush's torture project.
Yuri Yukovs stats above are shocking in of themselves, that the McCarthyesque blind hatred of anything that can vaguely be labelled as "socialist" will block any reform for at least another two or three election cycles... Have fun, 'Mericans, I hope everyone not rich gets out of this vaguely okay, and please don't drag the world down with you.
Good luck.

Re: Let the campaign begin!
It's really fun, how the right manages to discredit anyone poor because of disability, latent racism, the veterans, those in an economic bind because of the financial shittery of those higher up in the economic food chain, such as romney, because they must ALL be lazy.
Can't be that the system isn't fair to anyone. No. If you're not rich, you've done something wrong.
Bollocks.

GOP Platform: If you're poor, its because you're either too lazy or too stupid to be rich
I'm going back and forth between quiet confidence and nervousness atm..
I truly truly hope Romney doesn't win though. That would be a validation of a campaign whose strategy was evasion, misdirection, and often outright lies...

Re: Let the campaign begin!
I agree that Romney is far worse, and an obvious compulsive liar, but let's not pretend Obama is a messiah.
He's still a politician, he signed dispicable empowerment bills that allow him to basically execute anyone without going through judicary channels, and even if he doesn't abuse it (though a bill like that is very fit for abuse), he opened the window for all his successors to shit all over habeus corpus, and besides stopping waterboarding, he hasn't done much to remedy the situation in terms of human rights, that the Bush administration sent down the drain.
That he didn't close Guantanamo alone is laughable, and leaving the immunity of the previous adminsitration intact... I understand why that was strategically smart, considering the political implications, but what the US administration did in the aftermath of 9/11 were war crimes, and they were in violation of the Geneva Concention as well as the UN Charta.
Obama hasn't done f*ckall to re-implement proper Habeus Corpus for anyone caught in the conflict.
That being said, you can expect a Republican to be infinitely worse, as long as they still try to please the Tea Party.

To all American posters who will be voting in non-swing states. Consider voting for Johnson, only way to not waste your vote:
Fix the Government by “Wasting” Your Vote
Gary Johnson Marches Up Another Mountain

Re: Let the campaign begin!
No problem with Libertarians on the social side, and I admire Johnson as a guy quite a bit...But on the economics side though, I think their platform is fantasy based and unrealistic, so I don't think I could ever bring myself to vote for a Libertarian to such a high position
Also, Obamacare is a massive piece of legislation - and while I don't love all of it, protection against refusal to cover on the basis of pre-existing conditions and the ability of kids to stay on the family plan until 25 are two things that I would absolutely never compromise on...So when Paul/Johnson/Anyone else say Obamacare is unconstitutional and they would try to repeal it, unless they specifically state plans to pass a new law that would protect pre-existing conditions and allow young people to stay on their parents plan, there is no way I would vote for them.
Edit: While unlikely that I would ever support a Libertarian candidate (at least for high office), I do support their ascendency as a party, as I think the current system is quite obviously broken and we need one other legitimate power-party to change things up
