Juventus hijack Berbatov deal?
There are reports in Italy that Juventus have hijacked Fiorentina’s proposed move for Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov.
The Viola had seemingly wrapped up a deal for the Bulgarian striker who was expected in Florence this afternoon.
However, Berbatov had still not arrived at the club’s headquarters at 2.30pm local time which led to stories that he may have changed his mind.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve could have made a late bid to sign the Old Trafford man as they look for a new striker.
Other sources are speculating that Juventus have offered the 31-year-old a higher salary than the Tuscan club – around €1m more a season.
The Italian champions have been after a new striker for most of the summer after missing out on Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie who eventually joined United.

You know what, yeah let's do it. It's not a big transfer fee and he could be a very good signing.

It's a good temporary solution if we can't find a striker. He's not a long-term solution, but I think for this season he is as much of a scoring threat as any of the players we have been linked to this season.

Re: Juventus hijack Berbatov deal?
i like this. one fear i had for this summer, is that juve would buy an expensive player, just to do it - even if that player is not a good fit.
it seems if we do this deal, we would have avoided that pitfall, and obtained a good player for relatively cheap.
D.B. is a good finisher who has some nice creativity. i hope this goes through, and then we can tell bilbao to eff off

Berbatov is better than nothing but honestly after days of following reports to see juve sign a top striker...
maybe if we sign both berbatov and bendtner (on loan with option to buy) then we have an interesting season.
I just can't believe it, we were waiting for this transfer window since the last january and now we are still empty handed...

The potential contract terms sound great. 2.5 million a season for two years with a possible third option year and we pay 5 million to United. Great deal. If we make one more inexpensive signing at LB, I'll be very happy.
