He's back.
You know who I'm talking about.
Look's like he's finally settled into Chelsea.
This is the first time I've seen him play with confidence in himself since he's move from Liverpool.
Welcome back 'Nando.
Saying that, still doesn't suit blue. Look's much better in red. :(

Re: He's back.
Torres has always been a confidence player who needs the system to be around him. He's got that now.
He'll score 30+ goals this season.

Re: He's back.
I feel like people have been claiming Torres is back after every goal hes scored in the last year
Lets take it slow
The laws of probability are very strongly on his side with him at the focal point of an attack with such talent behind him, but Ill believe it when I see it
He has looked good for brief flashes inside the box here and there, but he still has looked rather poor for the majority of these two games (and god is he terrible with his back to goal) but we'll see how it goes...its a long season

Re: He's back.
I tend to agree with you bhends.
He scored and 10 threads would be made that "he's back" and all that. Never used to agree with them and told them (thread makers) to calm down.
This is different though.

Re: He's back.
His latest goal was worthy of praise, but the new season has just begun. He has to keep scoring something like that to say that he's back.

The build up leading to the goal was superb. Also Torres' movement was fantastic and the finish as well.
Fantastic to watch the player on form, hope it lasts !

Re: He's back.
what an assist by hazard!
i hope they keep their good combination
i was always under the impression people were overrating hazard
but he seems a very intelligent player
this must be goal of the week imo

GOAT he did similar things last year but nothing changed.....
Also Torres will never be back, he might improve but he will never be back.
Torres reminds me of Ronaldinho in his latter years every time he did something good people said he was back

I don't think his overall performance was all that good vs Newcastle.

It wasn't he performed better when we beat them 2-0 last year.
Funny enough i also think we performed better yesterday than we did when we beat them 2-0.
Funny old game eh?

Re: He's back.
When it comes to scoring goals he's been back for ages now. If we're talking about Torres 05-10 then no he's still got a long way to go to return to that level.
He's still hesitant to shoot at times, he gets outmuscled far too easily these days and his movement in around the box still needs to improve. He's definitely had a solid start to the season though.
The dribbles & runs have definitely returned though. Not as devastating as Prime Torres dribbling was but it's deffo back.
Outside of the box it definitely was. Was actually winning headers & his first touch was solid for the most part.
His passing is beyond shite atm though. So clumsy lol, simple 5 yard passes ffs.
Happy for him but still not convinced tbh. Shat player.

Re: He's back.
I'm still not convinced that he has actually had a "breakout" performance yet this season. Like others have said, he has looked good in flashed before for Chelsea, only to once again withdraw into his hole. I remember a stretch of 4-5 games near the beginning of last season where Torres was actually playing very well overall and scoring. Then, he went out and got a red card (against Swansea, I believe), which put the brakes on any return to form.
Moreover, I don't think he's actually been playing particularly better than he did for stretches last season. He's merely been in the right places at the right times, as evidenced by his goal against Reading. Granted, that's an important part of being an effective front-man, but it's not a "Return to form" for Fernando Torres. I have yet to see the power and grace that defined the EL Nino LFC supporters came to adore. Sure, there have been little glimpses, but nothing like what we saw on a regular basis. To be honest, I'm not sure we will see that again. He may be effective for Chelsea without being his old, electric self. Maybe he's only going to be a "fox-in-the-box" for Chelsea. If so, I think the entire league is the one that suffers, as an in-form Fernando Torres is a unique spectacle.

Re: He's back.
The best hasn't come and, personally, I don't think it ever well. In the first two seasons at Liverpool, Torres' game was mostly based on his energetic runs and his burst of pace - it was essentially the deadliest asset he had, which complemented his prolific style. However, since the injury in 09/10, he doesn't possess the same speed, he has declined, to a certain extent. It's had a psychological impact on him, you can clearly tell because he doesn't want to take players on. Remember the injury he picked up in the World Cup final a couple of years ago? Perfect example of the negative impact it has had regarding his game.
The thing with Torres, is that his work ethic is very much in place. Last season, he wasn't the main man, but this season, there is more pressure to deliver, and let's be fair to him - he has scored the goals, whilst not appeasing my eyes. He now feels "special", Chelsea players expect him to come up with the goals. I do believe that he'll end up at 20 goals in the league - bold statement from I, but with the service he is getting at Chelsea, I wouldn't be surprised if he scored as many goals. The incertitude of his position at Chelsea last season left me perplexed, too much was being made, although it was understandable. I will always maintain that we'll never see the old Torres again, he's left us, and now we are left with an instinctive finisher, lacking the confidence and pace to have a go at players one-on-one.

Re: He's back.
Is everyone in this thread just going to totally ignore the shameful dive he did to get the penalty kick?
I mean he wasn't even touched. Had it been a player on a couple certain teams this forum would have exploded with threads about how shameful and dirty the teams are etc etc.
Just thought I'd point it out. The second goal and the 1-2 leading up to it was tremendous. Hazard looks like a total steal whatever you paid for him.

Jesus Christ you're a clown at times even Mole a Newcastle fan admitted it was a blatant penalty.
