Now that Argentina are out of the u20 world cup on a ridiculous PK shootout, hopefully Barca buy Andrada, he only conceded one goal on the whole tournament which was off a penalty kick and he saved 2 PKs in the shootout vs Portugal but Argentina had to choke and somehow lost.

Yea I thought he was really solid throughout the match and I see him making it big in Europe.
I hope Barca snap him up if they haven't done so already

Sign a CB already

Well we have only two recognized center backs, one of whom is of the wrong age. Then we have other players such as Abidal who play well in that position but whose primary responsibility is something else - Abidal is a left back for example. So considering the versatility of our players and the potential of our youth we don't need four full fledged center backs but two sounds a little inadequate. Three might have been the perfect number. Then again you have mentioned how moving Abidal to center back is not a good idea because no one can offer what he does at left back. So all things considered I said we are one world class CB short of seeming invincible.

One thing JD no one is invincible, i dont care if we signed Thiago Silva we still would'nt be invincible.

None the less having 3 CB's 1 is getting on and is prone to injuries(Puyol) and the other is not proven.(Fontas)

Abidal is fantastic as a CB but if something at LB happens then you have an even more troubling issue.

A CB is pretty much a must but it wont happen so we will have to hope that Pique,Puyol and Fontas are fit more often than not and Abidal and Mascherano do thier job when call upon.

Villa is playing out of position, and as a striker Eto'o is better than him. Messi is in both line ups and Henry I would also say is better than Pedro. Yaya I have always liked more than Busi. Abidal at RB is better than Adriano at RB. Also to note Xavi is older now than he was in 09

Imo that 09 squad was better

- Henry 09 vs Villa 12, both CF playing on left wing. This will be Villa's second season, he will improve like Henry was, but Villa's first season was good as Henry's second. But let say that they are equal.
- Eto'o 09 vs Messi 12 Messi for sure.
- Messi 09 vs Pedro 12 Messi 09 wins.

So, attack is equal.

Inesta 09 vs Iniesta 12. "12" wins.
Xavi 09 vs Xavi 12. Equal, he is maybe slower now, but his vision is even better.
Yaya 09 vs Busi 12. Maybe individualy Yaya is better, but for this Barca Busi wins.

So, mid is better, even is Xavi was better in 2009. we have 2 players who are better now.

Alves 09 vs Alves 12. "12" wins.
Pique 09 vs Pique 12. "12" wins.
Puyol 09 vs Abidal 12. Puyol wins.
Abidal 09 vs Adriano 12. In that time Abidal was weakest layer in starting 11. His defense was solid, but going foward he was shit. Adriano is improving in defense, and he is way better going foward than Abidal 09. Lets say equal.

So with Puyol on bench we have better defense. If we put Abidal on left he is better than his "09" version. Than it is 3-1 for this team. Defense is better.

Valdes 09 vs Valdes 12. "12" wins.

Equal attack, better midfield, defense and gealkeeper.
And waaaaay better bench.

The only one i disagree with is that Xavi 09 was miles better than Xavi now.

2. I think perhaps the reason we are not buying a CB is because we cannot find anyone who will be definitively better than Abidal, Mascherano or even Fontas in our system. What we need is a young Carles Puyol but where do you get that?

On invincible i apoligize i should learn to read

I would have liked an experienced CB with decent ball playing abilities(I.E Alex) to put my mind at ease and when Sergi Gomez, Muniesta, Bartra and Fontas are 100% ready he would have moved on and all issue's would have been solved and if they dont live up to expectations then buy a world class CB to replace Puyol

Hey never mind man. I agree with your comments. The CB situation is at least a little scary.

Apparently Inter is interested in Mascherano. He's a great player and professional..but he will definitely be out of position for a long term. He would almost never get a place in midfield and would be stuck in defense. However, Masch will never say that he doesn't like playing at CB.

If he decides to go to inter...good for him and I wish him the best. However, this is just a rumor so I won't take it too seriously yet.

Masche paid €3M by himself to play for Barca, why he should go now?
