Whose betrayal was worse?
Whose betrayal was worse?
RVP has left Arsenal for a main rival and not too long ago Torres did the same thing, but whose crime was more severe?

RVP by far.
Torres made Liverpool 50 million pounds when he was past his best. Not only that, but he gave Liverpool more than 1 good season and he didn't publicly state he no longer wants Liverpool.

I don't even know if Torres actually said something about a transfer. It just happened that he was neither fine nor unhappy about...

Torres leaving Liverpool was hardly a betrayal..And nor did he move to a direct rival if you know what i mean.

Cashley to Chelsea.
Liverpool are rivals to nobody vying for CL spots.

Re: Whose betrayal was worse?
Betrayal is too strong a word, both just wanted to leave.
But RVP was way more unappreciative towards Arsenal. Torres handed in a transfer request after we had received a £50m offer for him, Van Persie just went "that's it, I'm out" and left Arsenal to worry about how to organize his departure.

Even if they're rivals or not, Chelsea and Man Utd have been competing for the title more than Arsenal and Liverpool. I mean it's not like someone moved from Chelsea-Man Utd or Man City to Man Utd.

Comparing these two to Figo is a disgrace. They owed nothing to club and wanted better career.

If you look at past 5 year we have always been there just one freak injure and small injured killed our chances.
RVP betrayal is the worst cus he talked about ambitions and we go sign 3 quality players and he leaves.

Re: Whose betrayal was worse?
I would say Torres, solely because it was on deadline day, resulting in a certain 35m purchase. At least Van Persie did it in such a way they could be certain to find replacements

But it was probably a "now or never" case getting £50m for him. Neither us or Torres could have been sure that Chelsea still wanted him for that kind of money in the summer. It was stupid of us to splash £35m on an immediate replacement, though.

Re: Whose betrayal was worse?
"betrayal".....
That's a strong word for a player transfer which is normal in football.
I don't remember United fans used the same word for Ronaldo....

DEL PIERO: Relegated with Juventus, fought until they won a title. VAN PER$HIT: One good season with Arsenal, joins bitter rivals.

By using the same analogy, some players who transferred to another club betrayed their former clubs. Acceptable analogy? maybe. Flawed? most likely.
