Official: Destro to Roma

Talk about a lop-sided loan deal: 11.5 million for the season loan, option to buy set at 4.5 million euros. He has signed a 5 year deal.

Meanwhile, Piscitella and Verre are going the other way, joining Genoa.



Roma confirm €19m Destro deal

Mattia Destro’s transfer from Genoa to Roma has now been confirmed, as has the total amount he could cost the Giallorossi.

The move has been considered as all-but-complete for the past week, but tonight is official after the capital club’s move to confirm it, as well as the details of the deal reached with the Grifone.

Enrico Preziosi’s club will receive a fee of €11.5m for Destro’s initial 12-month loan, a further €4.5m if Roma want to make the switch permanent next year and co-ownership of promising duo Giammario Piscitella and Valerio Verre. The latter will then join Siena on loan.

With the two Giallorossi men rated at €1.5m each, the total value of the deal comes to €19m. Destro arrives at Roma after 12 goals scored last term for Siena.

“Roma announces that it has signed with Genoa an agreement to acquire the temporary playing rights of Mattia Destro, for a fee of €11.5m,” read an official statement published on Roma’s website tonight.

“The agreement, filed today at the offices of the Lega Serie A, also includes the right of option to purchase the player outright, from the 2013-14 season, for a fee of €4.5m.

“With the club, Destro has signed a contract for five years, expiring on June 30, 2017. In the same operation there has also been signed with Genoa the agreement to sell outright, with a co-ownership agreement, the rights to Giammario Piscitella and Valerio Verre, with a net consideration of €1.5m for each player, for a total equity of €3m.”

i think they overpaid though...

definitely overpaid, 11 million for a loan plus losing two promising youngsters. Would only make sense if the 11 million was inclusive of the 3 million for the two kids. A lot of money to spend in an area were we are already strong and have a lot of options.

We shouldve kept Borini in first place.

Roma look VERY GOOD next season, I'm quite jealous

Looks great!! With some hard work and good football I think this squad may actually challenge for the Scudetto this season. I was under the impression Rosi has been loaned to Parma though? (THANK GOD)

Roma are looking the part for Serie A next season. And it's good to see.

Slightly overpaid, I don't think he's worth more than Borini, 13-14 million for him would've been fair as well. Hope we won't come to regret this one.

The Rosi-Parma deal had stalled earlier this week, but Parma are still trying to get him. That would mean Taddei is going to be the back-up right back.

Also, I think Zeman sees Marquinho in midfield given his ability to pick his moments going forward; Dodo is more likely to be the substitute left back.

Haven't seen much of Destro, but I fear it's gonna turn for us a borriello kind of deal

Boriello scored 15 goals for us that season. I'd be quite all right if Destro turned in a similar amount of goals.

Not to mention Destro is young and talented...Not really a similar situation at all IMO.
