My First LFC Experience

Hey all, I know it has been a while since I've been around these parts, but life has just been crazy and chaotic. I did however make it up to the Baltimore game and figured I'd drop in and let you all know how it went and throw up some pictures for you.

Firstly, let me start by saying that once you get your tickets to your first LFC game, the wait is brutal. The last two weeks in particular were filled with anxiety and impatience. It definitely was playing up to be a bit disappointing seeing as none of the big names featured in Toronto or Boston. Anyways, I left work on Friday night at 6PM, drove an hour south to pick up my girlfriend. We stayed in a hotel so that we could get to the game easier. The morning of the game was just full of excitement. I couldn't contain myself and I couldn't believe I was finally getting to see LFC live. The hour drive into Baltimore wasn't too bad. Driving up highway 295N, the stadium looks amazing. (I've never been to a professional sports stadium before) Not long after, the sea of red fans all across downtown Baltimore was surprising. Everyone around us was in an LFC jersey. We got to our hotel, parked and took a cab down to the stadium.

I won't get into too much detail, but the emotions and adrenaline are at such highs when you are in a stadium and surrounded by so many fans. While I had good seats, we were on the Tottenham side of the halfway line, which meant we didn't have the best view of the LFC bench.

First, Pacheco and Suso walked out and sat on the sub benches. They were the first LFC players who I recognized. Eventually the starting line-up and others came out for their pre-match practice. I won't lie, but I was absolutely star struck. Just before kick-off the subs walked out. These included Gerrard, Carroll, Hendo, etc. The crowd went absolutely mental for them.

My thoughts on the game as a whole: I hate that there is alcohol allowed at stadiums. Certain fans just keep drinking and being a pain in the ass to others around them. The seats were good, but there is no leg room at the M&T stadium in Baltimore. I did not enjoy watching certain women in the first row, all decked out in their LFC gear, sitting down throughout the game reading an effin' book on their tablet. Then there are the majority of fans who all have opinions during the game pretending they know it all. One guy behind me constantly went off on Carroll. I mean, it's ok not to like him. But watching the team play and sitting there and being an asshole to Andy all game was ridiculous. Yes, he was an LFC fan. I disliked seeing all the Manchester United jerseys that made it through. Why would you even wear that to a Liverpool game?

The actual game: It was stupid hot that day. The first 70 minutes had the sun over head and no wind whatsoever. The players were obviously suffering. The pitch is sooooooooo much smaller than it looks on TV. I mean, wow. The pitch was also very very slow, so there was a lot of back and forth and not too many chances were created. Jonjo Shelvey was definitely the star of the first half for me. Downing wasn't too bad. It's a completely different experience watching the game live. Being able to see players move when they are off the ball is awesome. I could hear Carra constantly yelling and commanding that back 4. Charlie Adam was seriously awful. Spearing wasn't that great either. The second half was a lot better. Andy's name was shouted out when he came on which was awesome. YNWA was sung and the LFC fans, who far outnumbered the Tottenham ones were generally pretty awesome. Lucas is obviously still in the process of re-gaining match fitness. Henderson was alright. He does move around a lot though. Gerrard played some of his well known longer passes which was great to see live. Sterling looks like such a talent. Enrique wasn't great defensively, and he almost seems too predictable going forward now. Borini was good. I know he wasn't involved much, but he moves well and makes some great runs. Shame not too many were able to pick him out.

The day was already a dream, but it was capped off with an awesome night as well.

It really was an amazing experience. I can't wait for the day I get to watch them at Anfield. (Hopefully the stadium still exists when that time rolls around)

My girlfriend is rather new to football and I think I've converted her into an LFC fan as well. I love that she has a genuine interest in the game and the players and is not bothered by any of the gossip.

For those of you who have not seen LFC play or any other football club at that level, I urge you to check it out at least once. It definitely puts some things into perspective as far as the game is concerned.

I'm never going to forget this experience.
