Re: Official Europa League thread!
I think BR has to do his calculations very neat and tidy while seleceting teams for europa league, EPL, FA cup...according to oppenent liverpool faces, he can select wide players or strikers. The good thing is many young lads who are eager to break into the first team will get chances to show their talent. So he can make use of such enthusiasm and energy among likes of suso, pacheco, morgan...
I think he will try to have a mixture of senior and young players. Although many are worried about attach trio, I am worried about midfield. The problem with the midfield is, the role which is played by Allen (or lucas), will be difficult for other players (I mean not effective in BR style).
But another positive is Downing, it gives not only a new option for left back but also an advantage in attack.
Specially Gerrard and Suarez have to be used efficiently.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
Where is Doni??
The star marked players seem to be of Youth & Reserves. . However, Samed Yesil seems to be different
Suso included as a forward . .
Great to see so many of the Youth Academy

Re: Official Europa League thread!
Hyypia's Leverkusen are confirmed 2nd. They cannot leapfrog Metalist due to away goals. I really have a bad feeling that we'll face them. Would've loved it if Hyypia led them far in this competition.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
I both want and want not draw Leverkusen.
Hyypiä coming to Anfield for a competitive game would be just awesome!
But Leverkusen are playing well, there are several easier teams we could face, so perhaps in the end one of them, please.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
can see us going far if we take it seriously tbh
not actually scared by any other side - they're all beatable. with that said, my main concern is atletico madrid.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
Zenit are shit, and Bruno Alves is suspended for the first leg.
good draw, would have preferred a stronger team like Inter/Atletico though.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
Tbf we sent youngsters to Russia last time and we barely lost. I'm quite confident with this Zenit tie.
Like Sepi said I would've personally preferred someone like Inter, Lyon, or Atleti simply because it would have brought back nostalgic Champions League nights.
It would be cruel if we make it through and have to travel all the way to Ukraine and play against Dnipro after all these Russian trips.

Re: Official Europa League thread!
What makes me wonder about this game is that St Petersburg is only about some 350 km from my home town, so if I applied for visa and felt like making the trip, spending the money, I could attend the fixture in St Petersburg... will have to think about that one!

Re: Official Europa League thread!
Morty just make sure you're not black, brown, gay, or anything else because Zenit's tradition clearly states one cannot buy tickets to Petrovsky stadium if they are not Russian. Also you might get killed if you are a minority, but that shouldn't stop you from visiting the beautiful St. Petersbourg. Also make sure you don't wear any Liverpool attire. Dress in all Zenit colors and sing the Russian anthem throughout the match. If a Zenit ultra eyes you weirdly and does gesture with his thumb under his chin like slitting a throat, it probably means they are initiating friendly conversation. You can return the favor if you like but I strongly advise not to.
