this is what i dont get, losing on purpose and getting in the right placement for favourable matchup happens all the time in other sports... but badminton gets punished, altho it was wayyyyyyyyy too blatant, but nature is the same, no?
not really saying spain definitely lost on purpose, but there would be suspicions, and it definitely happens in nba and nhl etc.

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
also.... what a sight today in 110m hurdle today, the massive chinese hero liu xiang, who won china's first athletics gold in 2004 athens, carried an injury to the game today, in the round 1 heat 6 run, he crashed into the first hurdle and hurt his heel (apparently broken and is getting surgery currently). he was in the tunnel already, but turned around to finish the race (kind of, obviously not over the hurdles) by jumping on one leg.....
i personally believe he just wanted to finish the race bcuz in 2008 he quit without taking a run, and there were chinese supporters furious with that decision. other runners helped him off after, some people thought he was faking on "chinese twitter" because he was under too much pressure to win in the final had he made it, but i believe that is bullshit, and it was very touching to see him finishing the race on one leg. HUGE respect

Doubled our Gold medal tally again! Sally Pearson and Anna Meares (beating Pendleton!) bringing it home.

actually 5 in badminton and 4 in table tennis. always wondered why people dont consider these sports....what do you definite as sports? something has contact? or something that america can compete in?
at least olympic comittee limits 2 entries per country in these programs, unlike swimming and track & fields where usa can throw on 20 people per program. i fail to see the logic in this.

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
Lol someone who says table tennis and badminton aren't real sports has obviously never played them, they are really physical demanding and it takes a lot of skill tbh.

Zhao Yunlei 2 Golds
Tian Qing 1 Gold
Lin Dan 1 Gold
Cai Yun 1 Gold
FU Haifeng 1 Gold
Zhang Nan 1 Gold
Li Xuerui 1 Gold
Thats 8 gold, not 5.
Zhang Jike 2 Golds
Li Xiaoxia 2 Golds
Ding Ning 1 Gold
Wang Hao 1 Gold
Guo Yue 1 Gold
Ma Long 1 Gold
Thats 8 gold, not 4.
Also China had 17 athletes for Badminton...

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
no worries bhends
however as for amount of players entered per program is concerned, its 2 teams per event, such as 2 pairs allowed for women double, 2 pairs allowed for men double, 2 people allowed for women single and 2 people allowed for men single etc
kind of like how jordyn wieber got screwed over in gymnastics all around. if these sports put a limit on number of participants, then why not athletics and swimming?
