Re: The Movie House
I loaned Midnight In Paris to a friend the other day, which reminded me that I wanted to say...Midnight in Paris is a great movie.

RIP indeed for Roger Ebert.....complete legend in the critic world.
No more Siskel & Ebert now
Now all we have is frakking Roeper, who is a douche. I still like Leonard Maltin though.

Tbh I don't like any critics or care what any of them say, but Ebert is indeed a legend and for that he'll be missed

Watched Candyman (1992) last night. Gave it a generous 5.5/10 taking into account the early 90s.

Re: The Movie House
3 movies I watched recently:
In the Name of the Father
Brilliant acting from D. Day-Lewis. Story about a family and a friend of the movie's main actor who were wrongly convicted of making and setting off bombs in London. One man in the end tries to clear his father's name after his death.
My rating: 7.3/10
Philadelphia
Hanks and Washington!!! Story about a man who was fired from his law firm because the owner's suspected he had AIDS. The man then decides to take the law firm to court.
My rating: 6.8/10
Fight Club
BRILLIANCE!!! I enjoyed this movie so much. Fincher absolutely nailed this movie, very great direction. I don't need to say anything else. Just watch it if you haven't yet. It's one of those movies you have to watch at least twice to appreciate it's greatness. Not that it is difficult to understand it at first, tho.
My Rating: 8.3/10

Re: The Movie House
watched a sick 2 hour porn movie last night as my exam break.
can't post the link, but the story line was the best part of the movie as opposed to the nude scenes.

Saw 'Inglourious Basterds' and 'Django Unchained'
Basterds was amazing, but Django lookd like a stupid spoof movie except for the scenes involving DiCaprio. Will addmorethoughts later.

Re: The Movie House
QT movies are quirky and I am a huge fan of his. But I dont understand why some people are praising it saying it is one of the best QT movies. I know he emphasise on style, but you cant take his movirs and the characters in them seriously. But this one was plain silly to the core. I am not denying that there are some great and funny moments. Everyone acted well...and diCaprio was best imo.Legend wrote:goonbrain wrote:Saw 'Inglourious Basterds' and 'Django Unchained'

End of Watch
Great action, suspense and an awesome bromance movie all in one. The 1st person view does not suffer from shaky cam so you actually enjoy it.

Re: The Movie House
Watched Day of the Falcon starring Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim and Freida Pinto.
7/10 is my rating. Richly told storing in a region and era that I really don't have a lot of knowledge about. That always fascinates me and this movie did its job quite well.

Re: The Movie House
Watched Man on a Ledge, Children of Men and No Country for Old Men this weekend.
No Country for Old Men I actually watched before (well I noticed that when I was halfway through the movie) though I didn't mind much. I mean with that brilliant acting from Javier Bardem, I can watch it over and over again. He is just amazing in this film. Throughout the film he just has this one expression on his face. It's a kinda calm, composed expression, and as his character is a psychopathic killer, its kinda scary when he only portrays this one expression of calmness. I mean it just let's the audience know that this guy is totally mental and at peace at what he does.
The other two are also decent films. Children of Men (science fiction movie) has a very interesting plot. It's a original movie. And Clive Owen does a good job.

Re: The Movie House
First poster for 300: Rise Of An Empire
Based upon Frank Miller's Xerxes comic-book, the new film will pick up the story after the events of its predecessor, as the Persian God-king (Rodrigo Santoro) continues his assault on Greece.
However, the home team have a new hero in the form of Sullivan Stapleton's Greek general Themistokles, a man charged with uniting his fragmented people in defiance of their Persian aggressors.
Directed by Noam Murro from a script by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, and co-starring Lena Headey, Eva Green and David Wenham, 300: Rise Of An Empire will open in the UK and US on 2 August 2013.

Re: The Movie House
I'm going to have to see that 300 Movie, also might give the new superman a crack in the Cinema. The trailer looked nice and serious.
Doesn't it follow from the most recent superman movie or is it another reboot type movie?
