Re: #19 - Mario Götze
He's not the second coming of Messi but slightly above average ? Come on. He's an elite player.

Re: #19 - Mario Götze
Disinterest, playing in a team and a system that didn't suit his qualities. Guardiola played him as a false 9 and a winger, things he is not. His best position which he thrived at once kagawa moved was the #10 behind the striker. There is no such position in Peps system. Also he has to act more on instruction rather than instinct, similar to van Gaal. I've said this time and time again, Peps idea of football is closer to van Gaal's than Cruijffs.

Re: #19 - Mario Götze
This is actually something that a lot of former pros turned pundits said, what Jibers is getting at. A lot of armchair tacticians have ideas on how Pep should line up, but the deeper core of the problem seems to be, to me, and pundits like Didi Hamann, that players have very little freedom in Peps system. Heynckes seemed to set up a tactical formation, declare zones that were to be covered, but let the forwards roam free a lot.
This is something you can hardly see on the pitch, though, you have to mostly trust reports on training sessions.
So it might all be bullshit. But it'd explain at least some of what's happening, not just with Götze. Also explains why Pep might be right for some sets of players, less for others.

Yeah, I get that feeling, he's getting 10M year of doing practically nothing. Some people are just like that.

Re: #19 - Mario Götze
He needs to be at a club where he's the undisputed superstar imo. It's just the sort of player he is imo. He's not like Neytap who shines more when there are players around him.
That's the only way I see him making that step forward and reaching his potential in his prime age (27-29). It won't happen at Bayern when he's always overshadowed by others.
