Anyway, for me, mental strength does not fluctuate. Either you have it or you don't.
Everyone in that final game has mental strength. Otherwise they would not have gotten there. But their fortunes varied massively on that final day.
you will find that form has a lot to do with what goes on in your mind. and it can very much be something that affects a whole group.
both teams showed toughness to get to the finals, but one team went missing in front of the task. i call that choking, and there is no way i would give a pass to someone going missing in a final. you are either present or you are not.

Re: Chelsea Champions of Europe
Congratulations to Chelsea , they fully deserved their first Champions League title
Also , i must say . I loled a bit with some people on TV , here in the forums or elsewhere after the game , which said Chelsea was one of the weakest teams that ever won the CL or they were just lucky ..
Sure they had a good fair share of luck , but it's also true , that luck favours the brave and that one makes his one luck , if anything.
I said to some and i ll say it in here too .
Just take a few minutes to remember & consider with what expectations Chelsea begun their season , what happened afterwards , all the issues they had to deal within their own squad , with what complete instability and shattered ambitions Di Matteo took over , all the odds they had to overcome just to be in the final , SO.MANY.OBSTACLES right from the 16 , even untill the very last minute and they never gave up , never lost their mentality and belief in their powers , they never bowed down to the sircumstances .
If that's a weak team (just lol), then all the other teams were just pathetic this season .

Abramovich wrote:Don't get why so many haters, if football was just purely based on talent then it would be shit. Favorites would always win and the games wouldn't be exciting, sure Bayern were the better team and hell we rode our luck but to win the CL you need luck.
End of the day we showed true heart, passion, desire, drive, will power every possible positive mental attribute and we won the game cup fair and square.
I don't deny that.

you guys act like Chelsea defended so hard no one ever created chances. And if you bring me the "they were lucky argument" screw that. Barca have beaten us how many times already by creating less chances than us?
same brain washing my football is better than yours bullcrap arguments.
smashed us.What game were u watching? They had chances over 180 minutes and scored 3.We had countless chances and you called that smashing us.
And yes chelsea parked the bus and basically relied on hoof ball to Drogba to create something.Besides the Drogba goal from a corner(compared to bayern's 20 corners) and a kalou shot early on,Chelsea did nothing. Absolutely nothing.
And lol at comparing us to Chelsea and saying that we were lucky when we beat you.I guess winning once after getting humiliated time and time again has erased the past.Every single time we beat you,we completely and utterly played you off the park.

yes, form has a lot to do with mind. But with mental strength you can come out of a bad form.
Anyway, we have different a understanding in this case. Let us just agree to disagree and give this a rest.
We all agree that Chelsea showed tremendous grit, determination and team-spirit. Let us leave it at that and congratulate them.

Re: Chelsea Champions of Europe
I hope I'm not too late. Was too drunk to post anything here last night.
I just want to say - "Chelsea, I to you. The way you won this was incredibly exciting for your fans. Kudos, and congratulations."
I would really feel bad for either of the finalists losing this, but also happy for whoever would win it. So as much as I'm happy for Chelsea, I'm really sad for Bayern. I think there's even a chance of me developing some kind of weak empathy towards Robben, poor guy just isn't the type for the finals....
...No, I was mistaken, no empathy there

Bayern not wining is bad for football. Teams with modest budget like ours are tired of getting taken apart by these oil barons and their cash. I hope city crash and burn next season. Classless team and equally classless fans. Where was their oil money when we smashed them?

So because you lost, any rich club that beat you is classless, along with their fans.Divine Intervention wrote:Bayern not wining is bad for football. Re: Chelsea Champions of Europe
Don't really like Chelsea or have anything positive to say about Lampard or Terry but it was nice seeing them win this year. To cement what Mourinho said that football matches are won not by one style or type but by many more facets of the game. And the phrase "football lost" is one of the most stupid statements ever mentioned.
Football didn't lose, Bayern did and to my knowledge, Bayern ain't the be all and end all of football...
