lol they're not a "thorn" for the oligopoly, they JOIN the oligopoly
the rest is still just as *bleep* as it was before, only now it has to deal with one more team that throws money at their players
There are structural problems with football in Europe today which I think most of us would like to see eradicated. However Bayern have never proposed to end these problems but merely hamper the competition.
When oligopolies become larger their characteristics are watered down and everyone has to work harder.

Yea and in the end if Spain has no more money, we and the EU have to pay with OUR taxes for you.
It's also a shame that top footballers like Ronaldo have to pay 24% taxes while the hard working people in Spain earn a lot less money. Very f*cked up the system there.
It has nothing to do with me lol
Also 24% is a lot when you earn millions a year.
I thought you live in Spain ..

And if you think 24% is high, i guess you have never heard about taxes in other countries or read anything about economie.
Hollande from France wants to rise the tax for rich people to 75% for example, and you think 24 is much. xD
I think that after the past couple of the years it's clear that the European fiscal strategy is not sustainable or an example for everyone else. 24% is a bit low though, 30% to 40% is just right for top bracket

No I don't live in Spain and I think 24% is high because I don't have to pay taxes
Anyway I said 24% of millions is a lot of money. Also lol at 75% taxes, that is never happening.

yeah, that's a very nice economic theory but when chelsea got rich and joined the top teams the rest of the league didn't magically improve with them

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
Its just kind of unfair for clubs like Dortmund , who have to work hard and for years to reach the top-level with lots of investments in the youth and good scouting, and then there comes a plastic club , buys about 8 top-strikers in 4 years and other high-payed players, without any own work.

But the oligopoly got weaker - what used to be a 3 team oligopoly of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool is now a 5 team oligopoly...as evidenced by the fact that out of the 3 original oligopoly teams, none of them won the title, one missed the champions league, and one barely squeaked in...
Are teams like Wigan/Sunderland/Everton any better off? Hell no
But I think the competition at the top has improved significantly

Well there's no scientific formula or definitive answer lol...
I just think between global brand/finances/current success/future outlook you can safely label those five the oligopoly

But exactly that's what we do - as football is a business, we mind that the playing ground gets skewed without FFP measures.milanfan7 wrote:They should just mind their own business ffs.

They just got lucky that some Billionaire Arab decided to play real life Football Manager...on cheat mode.
With Chelsea it's kinda different, atleast they were playing CL football and competing for a top 4 place before Abramovic came.
Does that make you bitter? Does that make your blood boil?
I loved it when so many hypocritical United fans were loving it when they heard the Qatar rumours.
And City had a lot of things going for it. It's not like the owners decided to invest money into some random club.
Nice stadium, very solid fanbase, free marketing potential, etc.
Football manager with cheat mode? *bleep* off. City are spending in 5 years the inflated equivalent of what clubs spend in 20 years to catch back up to WHERE WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ALONG (until our owner in the 70's fukced us sideways).
So because Chelsea were top 4 it's okay for them to be backed by billions? Sound logic.
Let's be real, pal. The Sheiks only bought City because they saw 'Manchester' in your name and thought to themselves "hey, we can try and make our own Manchester United here" I doubt they even knew of your club before they enquired about it.
Before they came, your stadium was given to you by the council and you didn't sell out your home games (you still can't even with your current success) and you were languishing 11th and 12th place.
Cheat mode on, and voila, you've won an FA Cup and the championship in 3 years.
Just stating facts.
There's one or two errors here but hey you're not from Manchester so you wouldn't really know.
Firstly the stadium was not given to us as you smugly suggest. The council aquired the land Maine Road was built on and took every penny from any crowd over 33,000 at the Eithad until this season where by we now just give the council £2 Million per season. However we probably save that and more over the course of the season due to the council's obligation to pay for stadium repairs.
Averaging 45,000 crowds with no success to back it up for 35 years is pretty good in my book. At least we knew the stadium wasn't full of the prawn sandwich bridage which gives the swamp it's unique library style atmosphere we've all come to know and laugh at.
Thanks to his majesty it's only taken him 3 and a half years to knock you off your perch so much so that if you come to the Etihad nowadays and get a shot on target it's a result.
I bet he's pretty miffed it wasn't more of a challenge.
