Test match Schalke 04 - AC Milan

Just for your information - there is a test match coming up between Schalke 04 and AC Milan during pre-season. It will be played in the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen/Germany on July 24, 2012, at 19:00 CEST (GMT+2). Dunno if it will be broadcast anywhere atm.

Traditionally we are extremely poor during pre-season, wouldn't at all be surprised if we lose, but looking forward to watching some of our Primavera boys taking the field.

We're legitimately awful in pre-season, we lost 2-0 to Varese a few seasons back. The average age of our squad and a late start were significant factors though, so with a few transfers it might prove to be an interesting match, they're great opposition to face, even in simply a friendly. The Hunter's first match against his old team. hmm

Well, I will certain try to figure out whether there is a broadcast and/or live stream of it. I shall keep you posted! It is just a pity that quite some veterans aren't around anymore. It would have been so cool if Raúl would have extended his contract! And I read that AC Milan lost some quite legendary players, too.

A topic for discussion for the past 2 or 3 years was that players like Seedorf, Inzaghi and Gattuso had to move on.

Its all well and good to have experience in the squad but when a 36 year old player who can offer about 1 or 2 more years of playing time, is taking the spot of some 23 year who can offer 10 years of quality to the squad, then that's where Milan have to draw the line.

But they will be missed.

Tru dat. But I'm still a bit saddened that Raúl decided against a 1-year-contract at Schalke to sign a 1-year-contract at Al Sadd. At Schalke he could have played in the CL one more time, and his goals were still spectacular, even at his age.

They will have played some "ERGO-Nationalelf" (no idea who that is), a 4th and a 5th league club before Milan. BTW, I just saw Schalke invited Udinese Calcio two weeks after Milan, too.

Thank you very much. I'm glad to see that Udinese will play them, it will be a good test before they proceed through the Champions League qualification. I'm hoping to see quite a few youngsters used in the second half of this match, however even from the beginning it will be exciting if we see our first glimpse of Acerbi in our team against a quality strike force.

BTW, I figured out what that "ERGO-Nationalelf" is: Amateur and hobby footballers can apply to become a member of that team and they have to do some trial training and then get a call up for 40men squad which will then have additional training for some days by pro coaches until they are whittled down to an 18 player squad which then will have the opportunity to play against the Schalke pros. Sounds like fun for these amateurs Very Happy
