It lists all the detailed specs of each model. The HD webcam on Mac shits on all other webcams. Sony, Samsung, Asus, etc

Even the software. Photobooth blows cyberlink youcam or sony vaio media gallery out of the water.

If you're looking for gaming definitely go with a PC. More bang for the buck if you know what you're looking for. That way you can eliminate cost by not essentially paying for bells and whistles you'll never use.

Avoid Intel HD chipsets. They are cheap and only really good for well "nothing" really. They are just there to be there.

As for Nvidia vs ATI... not my alley. My dell xps 15z has like a Nvidia 525 which I believe is just a basic/entry level nvidia. So i'm not sure if it's anygood. I'm trying to find out if Diablo 3 would run on it.

Good machine for what I use it for. Never game on it. I only use it really for torrents, movies,music, and Adobe CS5. No videgraphy though.

So with those specs anyone know if Diablo 3 will run... decently at least.

True but I had a dell preferred account and took up the financing offer. And so far the laptop runs amazing so far and it's about to be a year.


It kinda blows that as soon as I got it a month later the Samsung series 7 came out.

I've always gone with Toshiba when buying a lappy.Good for 2-3 years, then age starts to catch up to them. And the customer service is awesome

Good things with most Windows Laptops are they are always secretly releasing 10-30% coupons... you just need to find them...

when i bought my dv7t a year and half ago it was listed as $1200, i got it for $850, thanks to black friday and coupons,

and $850 is pretty cheap for a laptop with i5, 8gb ram, 750hdd, ATI Raedon HD 5650...

HP? Da fuq ... They have a mountain of models that are prone to overheat and simply suck.

And about Dell ... Not sure if serious. That would entirely depend on the insides and they have a bunch of laptops which have quite good hardware.

Anyway, Sony just released a new E-series line which seems quite good for multimedia use and unlike their other laptops, the E-series has a good price to it (all depends on the configuration, but an i5 + 1GB 7650M is quite nicely priced). Can be configured on their online store.

I'm hopefully moving to Australia by January for Uni. Initially I thought I'd take my PS3 but.. I don't think that's such a good idea

So even if I'm not taking my PS3, I still need a good source of enterteinment so I think I'll go with a PC

What are your thoughts on: Alienware M14x Gaming Laptop

My only concern is the battery life and..its looks. Say what you wanna say but I'm not too sure thats a laptop I'd like to bring into the class. It just screams douche or nerd lol.

Btw does anyone know whether the touchpad multi touch with scrolling and zooming enabled? That's a must for me.

Actually I'm applying for a schol to study Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Commerce and my first choice is Monash. I prefer Adelaide TBH, I've got some friends there and its much cheaper but my schol's conditions match more closely with Monash and hence.. I gave it preference.

And guys, when I said Monash or Adelaide, I meant it as options. And my questions were regarding the laptop a few posts above

lol I think I made the right choice trying to get into an Australian Uni

don't get the alienware they are overrated and overpriced computers.... most new laptops have a graphic card that is good enough to play all the recent PC games and all the online games

So far the only thing that comes close is the Alienware one that I mentioned. Che's Lap is pretty good but the Webcam sucks. Samsung ones exceed my budget
