How good is it? Looking for a fast laptop with good (not the best) gaming graphics that's durable for at least 3-4 years
I'm not too familiar with tech stuff, but a lot of people I know prefer Mac and recommends them. So how good are they? Value for money?

Re: Laptop Related
It's great but it only has 2GB RAM so after a year or so it starts to lag.
If you can buy yourself some RAM memory with it, then it's worth it. I absolutely love the touchpad and it's the best laptop I've used ever.

I hate the touchpad, it's so hard to highlight stuff ... I prefer discrete buttons :L.

Re: Laptop Related
Just checked out their website.
Macbook Pro 13" for $1200 seems pretty good. I like the touch pad and the features meet my expectations. 4GB RAM i5 processor and intel hd 3000 graphics.
I think its got a 4GB one upgradable up to 8
lol
I'm not looking for the highest specs. I'd only be playing CS or C&C..nothing like Skyrim
I know its a bit cheaper getting a windows laptop but i'm yet to find one that has all the specs and functions im looking for. the touch pad on the mac with the scrolling and multi functioning abilities looks very helpful
What do you guys think about security issues? I also heard that macs won't become obsolete in terms of perforamance too soon. I'm leaving for studies for 4 years on a student budget so i cant replace it too soon

Best way is probably just to go to an Apple store and try it out for yourself.
At the moment, no one bothers coding viruses for Macs, but that could lead to a sense of COMPLACENCY, and then you'd all be screwed over, because no one bothers with anti-virus programs...

hackers aren't interested in photos of furniture and half-finished novellas so for the average person a mac is probably more secure

Macbooks are worth the money.
I got mine 3 years ago and it is still running great. Operating system is so much smoother and user friendly than window's its not even comparable.
Trackpad=God
The only thing I would warn you is that a lot of CPU games arent compatible with macs, so look into that. That being said, there are ways to install windows on your mac while keeping Mac's operating system as well, but that takes some work and i dont know how to do it.
I used to be a windows guy until I got enlightened.

Oh, and Applecare is AMAZING. They fix almost anything for free, and if you go into an Apple store, the workers will more often than not tell you a free way to fix your problem for things that they could normally charge you for. Happened to me, saved me 100 dollars.

ladies and gentlemen - the reason marketing is a profession
see, what they do is lower your expectations - "oh i'm sorry sir, that is a problem that is going to cost money", which you assume is right because you own a mac and have no idea how computers work
then, when you're sad and disappointed, they magically come up with a solution that fixed your problem for free, and confirming the fact that people have a 5-second attention span (it's science) you forget what was going on and all that's left is joy from "fantastic customer service"
here's the dirty little secret: if a corporation fixes a problem you have for free passing it off as if it's saving you money, the problem cost nothing to fix in the first place, regardless of what they told you
i'm glad all the consumer behaviour crap i've been studying is actually useful

Maybe this applies to the second part I said, but Ive gotten a new charger and a new battery for free, as opposed to paying hundreds for that thru applecare

if you want it for the cool factor and want it as status symbol go for it. they're pretty reliable also.
theyre no better than a pc laptop though, and will cost much more. you didn't state if you're into audio, video, or photo editing or anything, but macbooks have a plus in that area because some apple exclusive software. since you just mentioned gaming though, that's not really a good reason by itself to pick a macbook.
i'd look at some other laptops if i were you. especially if you dont care about the cool factor

you've paid literally twice the price that you would have paid for an equivalent competitor product, and you're justifying this by getting "free" shit, the value of which doesn't even remotely reach the price difference... but the consumer is happy with it because hey, free shit
again... if a fix for a problem is free there's either no problem or you've paid for it already

I think the price of the laptop is worth it on its own. My brothers Dell burnt out in less than 3 years. Mine is 3 years old and is working in tip top shape. Won't have to think about getting another laptop for another 3 years.
Applecare is an added bonus.

lol no there isn't
lot of my friends have macs and i can tell you straight off the bat that none of them is running as well as my 2-year old asus, the only thing they have is battery life, which i don't care about anyway since i use it basically as a desktop
if you're not completely computer-illiterate and have the hw for it you can make your windows laptop run faster than any mac would ever hope to, i'm not even going into linux
i've never owned a macbook and never will, because they don't fill my gaming needs and their value for money is so shockingly awful it should be illegal

Mac >> PC
And I don't even own a Mac. Much more smooth interface. The OS is much more responsive and smoother than Windows computers.
For example whenever I have a program "not responding" on windows. It's as if it completely locks up my machine. If a mac were to experience the same issue the only thing that would lock up would be the program itself.
Windows owns a massive amount of market share to this day. But a majority of it is all XP. Whats to stop Microsoft and bounce everyone up to 7 or even 8 for that matter?
In all honestly Windows is dying slowly but surely. It will always be there. But shit even ubuntu outclasses windows. Although I love the boot time on the Windows 8 preview.
As for apple care my cousin paid like 60 bucks for two years on his ipod touch and has gotten it replaced twice in less than a year without paying a cent. So explain to me how it doesn't cost a cent? Sure maybe not to apple but consider that my cousin literally saved 400 dollars in less than a year for his itouch.
You'll taste the kool aid soon enough.

i don't know what kind of prehistoric pc you're using but one program not responding has never locked my entire computer... and of course macs have "smoother interface", they operate on a "you're too stupid to touch this" principle, same reason games have less problems on consoles than pcs - massive standardisation

bullshit... i'd ask you to provide quotes but you wouldn't find any
every single organisation that runs windows (ie 99% of all of them) updates to the latest windows released as soon as possible... and microsoft "bouncing up" everyone? lmao what are they supposed to do, hand out free win7 to every xp owner?
In all honestly Windows is dying slowly but surely. It will always be there. But shit even ubuntu outclasses windows. Although I love the boot time on the Windows 8 preview.
yeah, sure
all linux versions certainly have better potential than windows, but it takes ages to learn it properly, linux will never be a mainstream product

first of all, replacing an ipod twice a year means either a very stupid customer or a very shitty product
secondly, again, apple can afford to do this goodwill bullshit because they're already charging you 4 times what the product cost to make, they can sell three ipods for the price of one and still make a profit... but of course the customers don't realise that, it's all "hey, free shit"

There are more Windows 7 users than XP and Vista users combined, I don't see where you're coming from :vagi:. Come on, 8 hasn't even been properly released.
My three year old Dell laptop is working FINEEEEEEEE, and come on, hardware faults shouldn't happen, either you did something stupid, or the company is crap.

You're missin my point on my market share quote.
Here's a current post as of march. The XP market share is dropping.
But if you're to idiotic to realize that XP is still widely used my business then I have no hope for you
http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-xp-market-share-goes-down-in-february-2012
Notice how the XP market share is still the top followed by 7 then nearly on the bottom is Vista. Consumers/Business don't just jump the gun and update everytime a new os comes out.
Btw paying 60 dollars on a 200 dollar iPod touch and getting it replaced twice (400 dollars in total) not to mention generation higher is a pretty good deal.
In the end most would say they don't care if it cost the company anything. They paid for a warranty hence the expectation of getting their problem fixed at little to no cost to them.

Desktop?
Where are the laptops :vagi:.
I just took the stat off Wiki, sweetie.
You should be pissed that your iPod breaks so often, not happy that they're fixing it for you.
Say, you got robbed about seven times in one year, and each time, your alarm company got you a 'better' alarm, would you be happier that you got robbed, or that you got a 'better' alarm?
