edit: i changed the title, only because limited brain power dont understand that i just used a provocative title to raise the discussion about Messi's performance today. In no way was i even slaying and calling him a flop in my OP. But since some cant put 1+1 together, i have to make a name change, not that i care, but for the sake of the forum.

Was still very much involved, but its hard to do anything when your marked by 3 players when you get the ball.

A semi-choke, but not to the level of Cristiano who can't even get involved in games.

well he choked for his standarts but he wasnt that bad

he created chances but you would expect more from him since he is the best in the world...

He didnt play badly at all, he just had no space and his team mates werent on his level

he would have scored a hattrick today if he had some of the chances Fabregas and Alexis had

if anyone chocked it was those two losers lol

He's 0 for 7 against Chelsea which of course means he'll score next week.

He was good off the ball. Created spaces, drawing defenders away, made some passes into the box/sides. When you get man marked by 2/3 guys once you get the ball its very hard to do anything. Saw him dribble between 3/4 guys couple of times, but then got stopped by some other 3/4 guys.

Really? Sanchez and Cesc were alot worse, basically all the chances they made went through him......

It's really not messi's fault his teammates aren't there to help him when 3 defenders are marking him. Had Cesc, Iniesta or Sanchez been around in one of his many dribbles chances are they would have either taken a person off Messi, making his task easier, or Messi could've passed the ball to them after creating all that space. Same problem he encounters for Argentina, really.

Only thing I can blame him for is actually the goal, he lost it in a bad position. Alves was motoring forward, he knows that tactically Alves must do that. There was lateral passes on and he didnt do it, dribbled and lost it when we was not set up positionally.

In attack he did well minus when he got directly in front of goal.

He went past 2, 3 and even 4 defenders sometimes and got fouled at least 3 times. He made passes, he wasnt selfish and he shot when he could. Only thing he didnt do was score, thats because he got shots only on the edge of the box and Terry mostly did very well to block them.

But everything else was normal Messi, he slipped a ball to Cesc, but he has to mess it up with a tame finish.

Nah he didn't choke, he didn't miss any clear chances and played well, won a ton of fouls and left Chelseas defense in his wake many times. Frustrated performance sure but not bad by any means.
