Al Wasl coach Diego Maradona has mocked Brazil legend Pele's remarks that Santos forward Neymar is a better player that Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
Pele admitted on Tuesday that Messi is a great player, but stressed that the diminutive attacker is still ranked below the Santos prodigy.
"My God, that is just stupid," Maradona said. "Maybe Neymar is the best player in the world, but only if you say that Messi is from a different planet."
Both players were present at the Fifa Ballon d'Or Gala in January, with Messi scooping the award for the best player of 2011, while Neymar received the Fifa Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.

pele and maradona need to STFU, they are both acting like kids . just stfu and retire from talking about football to the media like most old guys do. its just embarrassing reading their arguments about current players.

that's gotta be the number one reason, but like sushi said, its the whole Diego mark II label that Messi has gained (and is shedding) coinciding with Neymar rising at the rate that he is. It is a bit of a shame but that's also a rivalry that might be older than even Diego himself. Being South American myself, its something I could understand.
