Re: Olivier Giroud
He's still a donkey but his wok rate and aerial ability is great. As long as he isn't taking more than one touch he's effective.
Most of his goals are one time finishes and he's actually fairly good at those 1-2 passes. Aside from that I wasn't that far off, he's Demba Ba with a stronger mentality.

Re: Olivier Giroud
He's a good player but certainly not more than that. 8 goals (7 excluding penalties) and 5 assists in 17 games isn't bad but it's hardly spectacular.

Re: Olivier Giroud
His link up play is awesome, he's a key player for us you can't fully appreciate till you seen him live & watch how much he contributes to the team, stats don't tell the whole story. I used to feel this Arsenal team is just more suited to having a quick mobile CF who can run in behind the defense and feed off the midfield, but this season has proven me wrong, midfield feeding off the CF can be just as effective.

Re: Olivier Giroud
I've seen enough games this season to rate him as a good player but as I said not more than that. I know stats are not all but at the end of the day to be a truly top class striker he needs to add more goals imo.

Re: Olivier Giroud
no-one is saying he is a top class striker, or a world class striker, but a very, very good addition to our team and does his job perfectly, in response to those who were saying he isn't a top 4 player and is utter drosszigra wrote:I've seen enough games this season to rate him as a good player but as I said not more than that. RG YOU LEGEND!RealGunner wrote:He is probably the 2nd best French striker after Benzema. Although they are very different players
Giroud is a Classic No 9 with Modern Attributes. His link up play is amazing, can score with either foot, decent first touch on him and he is a very very clinical finisher, his heading ability is excellent as well.
Think he has a release clause of 13m, Not sure but he is supposed to be Arsenal bound.

Re: Olivier Giroud
? its common knowledge to arsenal fans, we know giroud is a decent striker thats for sure, deserves to play for arsenal. but he cant be a starting striker for arsenal, he is just not at the level needed.

Re: Olivier Giroud
He is pretty good against small teams its just that like last season Giroud is a big game flop this season too..never been clinical finisher as well.
Re: Olivier Giroud
I'm not going to blame Giroud. He is playing his best football, we all know his level .

Re: Olivier Giroud
Think everyone's very harsh here.
Giroud isn't "Europe" quality, but he definitely is PL quality.
He's been played to the absolute limit right now, and desperately needs some rest. Won't be surprised if Podolski or Walcott play as the CF in the next couple of games, Giroud needs a break.
And if this has anything to do with Chelsea, he hardly got service. From the top of my head he's only "real" proper chance came in the dying moments of the game and it was on a very tight angle which Cech positioned himself well. The only man who could of probably scored it from that tight of an angle would of been a moment of brilliance from RvP,..

Re: Olivier Giroud
I don't think it was all that tough of a shot. It wasn't easy, but it was definitely not as hard as the volley a 35 year old Lampard had to take, and Lampard almost made his, where as Giroud missed...by a lot.
I would agree he's PL quality. I don't think he's Arsenal-starting PL quality though.

He's garbo.
Put Andy Carroll in his place and he'd just score just as many.
