because if some people consider a teeny tiny cross that's not even visible until very close inspection offensive and you decide to take it out, where does it end?

should the crown also be removed because it's a symbol of a totalitarian regime which might be offensive to human rights activists? should the white background of the badge be changed to grey since this might offend black people? better yet, why not change the team's nickname to "los grises"?

The people asking for it to be removed are wrong I agree.....

But the fact they are removing it doesn't mean much.

Also a cross and a colour are two completely different things. Shouldn't be compared on an emblem lol.

Spain, because of incidents in their history such as the reconquista over the years became particularly stoic, Under Franco Catholicism was the only religion to have legal status.

Real Madrid is a large institution in Spain, the less religious ties they have , the further Spain can move away from the Xenophobia and religious suppression that characterizes most of it' s history.

it's just utterly stupid, i'd bet my house that most of this forum didn't even know that cross was there, it's not even visible until you see the logo in a big resolution ffs...

I am guessing they would be disappointed.

I don't know much about the history behind the origin of that cross and how it got onto the emblem, but if it did have history behind it then they have the right to be mad.

At the end of the day as you said most wouldn't even notice it so it won't mean much.

I bet the history of that cross is that it simply belongs to the Spanish crown and that was taken for the Real (=royal) Madrid Logo:
