Rivalry Section? Empty Rivalry Section?

I think a section for trolling the rivals is needed and that brings some life into the forum

hmm A designated rivalry section could be a good idea. That way people from rival teams could argue with each other in neutral territory and without disrupting the rest of the forum. Also, people will expect trolling in that section, so people who want to avoid it can do so.

On the other hand, it could end badly, but there's no reason not to give it a shot if other people are interested too. There would be dedicated threads to each of the major club rivalries (partly dependant on how many fans each club has).

E.g. Barca v Espanyol is a rivalry that would not get it's own thread in this section because there are no Espanyol supporters on the forum (even though there are many Barca fans). One or two Espanyol fans would be enough for a thread if they were reasonably active posters though. By the way, I'm not suggesting that neutrals shouldn't be allowed in other people's rivalry threads.

International rivalries should stay in the international section.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Serie A
Milan v Inter
Juve v Inter
Juve v Milan
Napoli v Roma (enough Napoli fans? Probably enough fans who support them as their 2nd/3rd team?)
Roma v Lazio (anyone know any Lazio fans in the forum?)
Roma v Milan
Roma v Inter
Roma v Juve
La Liga
R. Madrid v Barca
A. Madrid v R. Madrid (enough A. Madrid supporters?)
Valencia v R. Madrid
Valencia v Barca
EPL
Arsenal v Tottenham (are the Tottenham fans active enough?)
Arsenal v Chelsea
Arsenal v Liverpool
Arsenal v Man U
Man U v Man C
Man U v Liverpool
Man U v Chelsea
Liverpool v Chelsea
Bundesliga
Bayern v Dortmund (probably enough fans who follow Dortmund as their 2nd/3rd team?
Primeira Liga
Porto v Benfica (enough supporters for both teams?)
Ligue 1
Marseille v Lyon (Marseille supporters not active enough?, no Lyon supporters?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Does anyone have any other suggestions for rivalries that should be included/ones that should be left out?
Also, if you are a Tottenham, Athletico Madrid, Dortmund, Lazio or Napoli fan, it would be good to hear from you.

A "trolling section" (which is what a rivalry section would end up being) has been brought up before. It's not happening.

Just look at how little effect the RB section has had on comparison threads appearing in the GS. Such a section would only act as a validation/acceptance of trolling and would only service to encourage trolls and exacerbate current problems between supporter sections.

You make a good point.

I was thinking of a section where there would only be a limited number of threads that are titled, "Milan v Inter", for example. These threads could be closed for the rest of the year when it's not derby time to limit general trolling. It would also prevent people creating random threads with topics that are asking for trouble. Kind of like the chat box, except open for a week before and after the game. That might solve some issues, but... I guess I'm relying on people to be half-sensible and not to be encouraged to offend people by the very existence of a rivalry section. Laughing

Frankly speaking its good to talk with the fans of your own club and have meaningful conversation about plans , transfers and etc but without Rivalry it turns into posting what is in the media and asking for opinion , but if there be a section for that purpose it makes things little bit more interesting around here

Interesting and hostile are not the same things. I can understand a desire for banter, and to that end we do allow a certain amount of back-and-forth. However, there is a significant enough population on these forums that can not handle anything more than what is currently allowed (for various reasons). While we Admins do our level best to keep from censoring things we do have to take the considerations of the majority into account as well as the atmosphere the forum generates. In order to both keep our current level of members AND attempt growth in overall visitors, we believe it imprudent to allow something that would, in all likelihood, increase tensions and general feelings of ill-will between fanbases. Besides, the General and RB sections already allow for interaction between club supporters, assuming etiquette is observed.

Actually that doesn't really count as rivalry. The biggest rivalry here is Dortmund-Schalke.

In the past it was Bayern-1860. Then you have St.Pauli-HSV, Bayern-Nürnberg, Köln-Leverkusen, Werder-HSV, BMG-Köln, Nürnberg-Fürth and some more local ones. ^^

This could be useful. The administrators should look into this request. I've only been on this forum (mainly in sections about Serie A) a short time but from what I've seen, the Milan, Inter and Roma fans are tranquil and respectful with one another, but the Juventus fans are outwardly hostile and think it is okay to disrupt threads that have good discussion. A rivalry section would give a set place for arguments to be and they would be glad to go there and banter. Most people come on this forum to talk football with like-minded people, so its important that productive discussions are not ruined by trolls.

Could we at least have a section where great threads are moved after they fall off the map?

"The best Goal Legacy"

Sure there would be a couple troll threads there but I'm sure there are many great threads that aren't necessarily troll threads.

Why would you call it that instead of Goat-Legacy?
