Juninho Pernambucano still at it
Well, the goalkeeper sort of helped, sure, but he was taken by surprise as anyone would've, and you gotta give him credit to Juninho for his audacity. It actually does look like he tried to score, not cross, and even the commentator said "mandou direto, é gol!!" ("he went straight for it, and scores!!")

And that wasn't even a freekick. That man could score from practically anywhere on the pitch. Too bad he wasn't really great at much else.

Imagine if Messi learns to score like this.

Much else?
- That guy, on his first professional season, dazzled Sport Club do Recife fans with his talent (back in late 93, 1994, where I saw him play ), and though he only was there for one season, he still is held as a hero at the club. One of my first football heroes then.
- Then he moved on to Vasco da Gama, one of the big Brazilian clubs, where he made history and became internationally famous, joining the legends of the club, playing a big part and being the hero who helped Vasco to their one and only Copa Libertadores title in 1998.
- After that, Lyon. I don't need to comment on that, the history that he made there, and what he means to that club.
Then he went to some club in the Middle East to get some money, and did pretty well there.
Now he's what , 37 years old, and he is back at Vasco, and still helping them. That game where he scored is a Libertadores game, big thing.
I think he's a little more than just free kicks and stuff. Pretty decent player, overshadowed by all the other Brazilian stars of his time.

Yeah people who don't know about Juninho think he's a one trick pony with free kicks (as far as one tricks go though, it's a pretty amazing one) but he offered so much more in his younger days
