Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
Xavi feels that they are underappreciated within Spain because so many of the nation's football fans are Madrid supporters.
"Barca's victories are more valued outside of Spain than in Spain, but it's because of the Barca-Madrid war that we have here," the midfielder told reporters at a pres conference.

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
What's wrong with what he said? It's true, most of Spain are "Madrid fans"
Football fans outside of Spain appreciate Barcelona and their football.

I don't know what he's trying to say though, like how they are underappreciated here, does he taking a dig at La Liga referees in "honest" manner ? be more clear ffs.

Doesn't Barcelona push Catalonian independence?

The last proper survey done on the matter was in 2007.
A 2007 survey by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas determined that Real Madrid was the team with the largest following in Spain. Thirty-two percent of the Spanish population supported Real Madrid, while twenty-five percent supported Barcelona.
I'm pretty sure in Barcelona's era of dominance that 7% difference has been closed if not surpassed.
Seriously 7% 5 years ago before Barcelona was the club it is now.
Get off your high horses idiots

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
I doubt those percentages have changed much, the numbers probably have both increased since then as the acquisitions of Ronaldo Kaka and Mourinho has to have boosted support. Anyway, we're talking about Spain here, I doubt that many Spaniards have jumped on the bandwagon to a Catalan club to drastically change the percentages, if we're talking around the world, that's a different story.

I disagree. Why wouldn't Spaniards jump on the barca bandwagon? I mean they are wining trophy's left and right. And thanks mostly to them their country won a WC.

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
bhends post makes no sense, duno why people are quoting it.
Xavi isnt asking a question, nor is he saying he is upset about a lack of under appriciatation.
OT. I find it very hard to believe people who dont live in Spain are suggesting they know who supports which club the most. The best we have is something 5 years old which actually supports what Xavi has said.
Are there more Barca fans now then then? Possibily, but none of us actually know.
Are there more Barca fans than Madrid fans? I would safely guess no.

Well he wouldn't be happy knowing people in Spain support Madrid more over Barca so yes we can safely guess that he is upset about it................

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
What exactly does he mean by under appreciated? I know I'm asking the wrong people since none of you all are Xavi but I simply can't phantom the thought that a club as grand and great as Barcelona is could be under appreciated.
He is living in Spain so he'll have a way better feel to how things go with that but based on that comment, I don't believe him.

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
I think Pipita missed Xavi's most important statement.
Xavi : "We are not prepared for a no from Guardiola"
What will Barca do if Pep say no?

Re: Mr. Humble and respectful speaks again
Thanks to modern technology, football clubs are now competing for a global market share.
(2010 statistics)
Spain's population = ~46,081,574
World Population = ~6,840,507,003
Spain's population is equivalent to .67% of the world population...
If Xavi is worrying about that market, let him. The rest of us will pay attention to the other 99.33%.

Madrid are under-appreciated in Catalonia because most people are fans of Barcelona.
