1) He's still only 20 years-old.
2) He's training with Suarez on a daily basis...
Give him time.
Was that a little dig at Suarez's finishing or am I comprehending this wrong?

He has great movement and that can put him in a position to score regularly. He's very inconsistent 1 on 1 so far in a red shirt.

Not surprised at all tbh. His finishing is rather disappointing and always has been. If he was accurate with his finishing he would probably be a +20 goal scorer per season.

I actually read a very interesting take that said he did everything right in this 1v1 - letting the keeper commit, making the right choice - and just put it barely wide. Obviously not an argument for his finishing being great (seeing how he didn't finish), but it's a hopeful sign that he knows the process and just needs to tweak the components a little bit. I dunno about 20+, but I think we could see him scoring 10-15/year in the next few seasons if form holds.

His best game by far today. Really took over with Suarez being suspended. Amazing performance.

Re: Coutinho
Stunning performance, the Geordies s*** themselves everytime he got the ball. What a future he has.
Just unfortunate he is from S. America & plays for Liverpool and the FA will probably have it in for him.

I honestly don't understand why Inter would let him leave. Looks a great little player. He ran the show yesterday v NewC.

Havent seen him play for Liverpool but seems to be doing much better than in Serie A. Still, Inter management is wortless and everybody knows it

Re: Coutinho
After that impressive performance, would his best position be on the wing or in the middle? I think he'd be wasted out wide with his passing skills and his dribbling seems more suited in the middle. Although he could be a Nasri/Silva type player from the wing too.

Re: Coutinho
He'd be a lot better on the left and drifting inside (with Henderson covering him from midfield) and let him do his work from there. He's pretty much played there (on the wing as an inside forward) for us since his arrival and where he played for Espnayol. He won't have enough space in the centre to create. Newcastle was all over the place.

Re: Coutinho
First one looks like he was shooting but sort of lost his balance on the follow through
None the less, what is that like 5 assists against Fulham and Newcastle?
Kind of regret taking him out my FF team now.

Re: Coutinho
Wonder how they'll fit him, Sturridge and Coutinho together. And will they stick with Downing on the right or bring in another winger?
2/3 signings and they'll be in the Top 4 next season in my opinion.

Downing pretty much starts because we don't have anyone that can play on the right hand side as of now. Sturridge can - but has to lead the line. Suarez has his ban. Rodgers stated just before January that Suso and Sterling were going to be rested for the remainder of the season and that's pretty much how Downing got his position into the team. We don't really have any more options that that, really.
Coutinho will go back to the left when Suarez comes back. He's basically the only "playmaker" we have in the final third. So we make him the focal point.
We need atleast 3-4 signings to have a chance for top four.
Our whole defence needs to be worked on. We still havn't replace Steve Clarke really. As for the playing group, Carragher is retiring - Skrtel seems like his sold if an offer comes in for him. Agger has been quite average defensively this season... Coates will probably be loaned out. So we need atleast two CBs.
We also need physical presence in the middle. A Sissoko/Mascherano type.
And one to replace Downing in the final third. Preferably Eriksen but have a feeling Dortmund might go for him now Goetze is leaving.

What a goal. Who would've thought he could generate so much power with that little body of his.
