Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
[quote="The Franchise"]Why does it matter where Jose spoke to the ref? How does that change the "media impact" in any way? And what of Iker? Has he apologised?[/qoute]
What was said was between two people in private. A referee's jurisdiction ends outside the stadium and besides the ref didn't file a complaint. Jose has been sanctioned in the past by both the RFEF and UEFA for speaking his mind. Let's not pretend he is immune.
What Iker said was on the pitch but again it was to the ref's face not the media and he apologised straight after on his twitter. Again the ref didn't file a complaint.
Pique made his comments to the media, after a cold shower. The instances are similar but there is a difference between all of them.
"You'll smoke your cigar and laugh while professionals work hard" or something along those lines were said by Mou.
"Go party with them" was what Iker said.
What was said was to the Ref's face. They shouldn't have done it but it was between them and I can't stress this enough but no complaint was filed.
"I looked into his eyes and saw ill intentions" and "His red card may have been premeditated" or something like that was said to the media. Not to mention what Pique may have said on the field of play as well. All in all very silly of him imo.
Pique doesn't need much to complain anyway, but his red was no different to some other red cards given in similar situations. At the very least in real time it looked like he denied a 1v1 illegally.

Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
Iker and Mou's comments had a media impact..this is without arguement surely?
So the justification that Pique should be punished based on media impact is utter rubbish.
"Go party with them" and "premeditated" are implying the exact same thing...one may of been in the heat of the moment, but again, do they not have similar media impacts? Indeed, they obviously do.
Again, I disagree. Pique is in his right to complain, he got a red card for what was barely even a foul..whereas, in his view, Barca were denied for less down the other end. So, yes, there are grounds for his complaints.

It surely must be noted that Iker's comment was on the field and was never actually confirmed. All he did was apologise and give and excuse.

Let's say Pique apologized tomorrow, would his comments be acceptable then?
On a side note, how much time passed between the match and Pique making those statements?

Iker said it, lets stop pretending he possibly didnt.
On the field or not, did it nor gather media attention?
I am not here trying to compare situations, rather, question the justification behind punishing one and not the other based on the reasoning given for that.

If Pique apologized I can see this all being dropped.
If he and Barca want to be hard heads about it then it'll continue and if a club wants to get into a d*ck measuring contest with a national football federation there is only going to be one winner

I get what you are saying but it never gets to that point because no complaint was filed. Unlike Pique's case.

Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
Iker said whatever he said (nothing confirmed or directly quoted from him at least) to the ref. Apologized for whatever he said right after.
Pique thought it through , made a calculated comment, he's a smart guy he knew exaclty what he was saying.I don't agree with the punishment at all, but it's a different circumstance.
It generated media attention....however...the main part the media carried with Iker was the apology....not what he said to the ref.

Really?
How is it that via the media I knew what he said, yet had no idea of an apology?

Selective Memory.
On a real ,Casillas didn't say anything to the media outside of the apology, you can't put that on him

Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
Its not about putting anything on him.
He said what he said, the media put up on everything so it doesnt even matter who he said it to...the media impact exists either way.
No, not selective memory...I couldnt of cared any less at the time about him saying it or him apologizing for it. However, one of those things were much more talked about than the other...that being what he said first.

Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
We're not even sure he said it. The media asked him if he said it and he responded with an apology.
People will talk about what they want to talk about....dosen't change the fact that Casillas tried to keep it on the down low.....the only thing he couldve done further was deny saying anything.......or say something stupid like
"No, i said this"
Handled the situation very well and very differently from Pique. But you're saying since it generated media attention he should be punished?
Well that's just not fair at all.So if Rooney has Villa has coffee with Mallenco and the media report it and he dosen't deny it he should be punished as well?

Re: Barca open war against Spanish federation
Iker didn't say it in an open press conference
If players got punished for what they said to refs during a game 90% of players would be up shit creek
But to come out publicly in a freaking press conference and say the ref premeditated giving you a red card is a very serious act.

Barca/Madrid nonsense again... I thought we'd made it clear that this was to end?
