You're not wrong. Downing has disappeared for the majority of the Liverpool season, but he's been decent playing for England. Moreover, did you watch the League Cup Final? Downing finally showed his real class. The potential is there. I can understand Pearce wanting a look at him against the England backdrop.

no one is suitable. better a "hard working midfielder" like scott parker than a "good goalkeeper" or past it england "golden generation" players

Fair point. I'm honestly not sure. Never followed them closely enough to say for certain.

Good news that Gerrard isnt made captain.

This would mean the english media will have different targets to bash when England knocked out of Euros in 1st round.

Also will ensure Gerrard retires from Internationals for sure.Hopefully the next coach also retains Parker as captain.

i think its alright. captaincy should have gone between gerrard, barry, parker. but im happy parker got it. he is a hardworking guy, also as far as i have seen of him he is hardworking, and nice polite guy, got good work ethic, respectful,

unless anyone suggest otherwise lol but yeah i am happy for this.

Good choice. Doesn't matter if he hasn't got the experience in international level/a lot caps. He embodies what a captain is ie- someone who gives it his all and leads by example on the pitch.

Plus he is having a fine season for Spurs. He was chosen on merit.
