yet he allow Cuencea, tello etc to dribble? Makes no sense to me. Alexis cant dribble ,at least he hasnt showed it.End of.
He showed it often enough for Chile and Udinese..... not his fault your ignorant to anything outside of La Liga.....
I have actually watched him with Udinese, dont try this you dont watch him BS
Playing for Barca is not playing for Udinese, playing in La liga is not Serie A either. Teams actually parks bus against Barca and denies space for their players ,Alexis struggles because he was always been a player who utilized space. He was a volume dribbler in Udinese, most of his dribbling were during counter attacks. He thrived with space and he was one of their least efficient players .

I think its simple.
At Udinese and for Chile, he is/was the key guy..so obviously he plays a freedom and has the onus to do whatever he likes.
For Barca, he is just a young guy playing for the best team in the world. So of course he is going to be less aggresive (if Pep told him to not dribble or not, its not really important because we cant prove or disprove it either way) and be less likely to try things.
We have seen games where he has taken people on a been aggressive, other games where he was way to conservative.
The stats? Of course the more you try things, the higher the chance of turnovers...obviously the more safe you play, the more likely your going to not turn it over.
Stats like that tell more about how someone is playing, more than their quality.
He loses alot of balls? Well duh...Udinese and Chile played ULTRA directly, its going to be more like a basketball game.
All yout points are valid. It's obvious in Udinese Alexis was supposed to provide the magic, to do what Messi does with us and make the difference. So he dribled more and lost more balls.
However, the thing is that 7.6 lost balls is savage. Way more than any other player had in Italy last season. From Udinese or any other team.
So if to show enough attacking creativity he has to lose that many amount of balls, I don't want that.
He showed this season that he can't provide much dribling or creativity keeping it simple, while at the same time being quite wasteful (many loss of balls and low pass %).

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Yes, that is alot of ball...however, its also true Udinese play a very unique way and he was center (not literally but I mean in terms of importance/touches) of it..so when you add that you sort of get the idea.
I dont think he has to lose that many balls to dribble effectly, I think there is a healthy balance in there somewhere and we saw it (not enough though) for us.
I didnt want many games thinking, this guy is giving it away WAY too much.
The 2 types of games I saw from him was
A. Be more aggressive, your 1 v 1 with the fullback, go at him
B. Excellent, he is going at defenders while not hogging the ball and still making runs of the ball.
We didnt see enough of B and too much of A, that much I am sure.

This.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Watch games and make your own judgement on a player dont use stats to say why a player is better than another it just doesnt work.....
Stats are for mathematicians and no knowledge of football is required for deriving or interpreting conclusions from them, which is the main problem with statistics. I rather trust my eyes and judgement than a bunch of numbers. I don't think anyone would disagree that Alexis had a mediocre season, however.
Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Stats cannot be used on a standalone basis. However, it is an effective supplement to qualitative analysis.
Which is what Free is doing here. At present, i dont see much issues with what he is saying. Alexis may improve his dribbling in the second season, but right now, the stats actually help in showing he did not bring the game we expected him to.

Or perhaps because the Serie A is vastly inferior to the Primera Liga
Even at the Copa America, Alexis was the most successful dribbler in the tournament...even more than Leo

I've never known Alexis to be a great dribbler, Eto'o had more successful dribbles than him in 2010-2011 Seria A.

Using the same stats free used, Alexis was tops in Serie A for successful dribbles in 2010-11

I do think year two will be better, without question...He is a massive talent with exactly the sort of edge needed for a team with the awesome array of talent it has....The only player other than Leo on the squad, IMHO, who demands a double team - at the minimum
How the hell did I miss this?
A double team at the minimum.Seriously man.
Alexis 'The defender yells boo I pass the ball back' Sanchez requiring a double team.
You can stick a traffic post from your street corner out on the pitch and there is a greater chance of the post being double teamed than Alexis 'The defender yells boo I pass the ball back' Sanchez being double teamed.

Does anyone notice half of his passes are as he falls over? Its because his first touch under pressure is so bad. The guy still looks like he's on a nervous debut...

He was sooo bad today while everyone else was great. He really annoyed me practically every time he touched the ball, ruined the tiki-taka.

Ahhh remember this? Almost a year ago, when Mr. Passback actually tried to...not pass back all the time and dribble instead.
I don't understand, he clearly has the ability, he just doesn't try.
And...

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
I think thats not true. His passing is a little inconsistent, but last season he made quite a few great passes.
I remember one to Pedro and another to Messi which were nothing short of WC passes.
Also, I seem to remember him combining with Messi pretty well (the Chelsea game was a example, where he did 2 1-2s with him to create a Messi chance) at least as much (more so) than the other forwards.

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he told to dribble less and pass more to Messi, or Xavi. In other words he doesn't have the "license to dribble"?

Thats the rumour, but none have been able to confirm it. There was an article from the biggest spanish and catalan sports paper that said that in his first training session, Sanchez did "maravillas" with the ball but then Iniesta came to him and told him "that the best player in Barca is the one who has the ball the least" or something like that...

IMO he looks great when he comes inside and has both ways to twist and turn and play passes. He should be used more as a backup false-9.

Well if the rumor is true hopefully Tito will change things around, he was amazing in Seria A with his dribbling something Barcelona needs, a bigger threat to the defense so Messi gets a bit more space.

His passing is not awful. His one-touch passing however is not up to Barcelona standards and probably never be.
Then again, Mascherano.

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Thought this guy has potential. But turns out he is a diving c.u.nt.
Does he have an official twiter or fb page. i think we should show our support for him to stay on the bench, until he mans up a bit.

Sanchez just needs to cut out his diving, it's frustrating especially if you are on the losing end or the game.

Tito's idea of change is probably starting Tello.

El Nino Maravilla .This guy will never achieve 5% of what Villa has done in his career. After Villa fully recovers and/if we buy a new winger him and Tello should never start for the first-team again.
