Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Alexis has picked up a knock on his left leg and he will be kept under observation before a decision is made as to his availability for Wednesday’s game against Málaga.
Not sure how many games he has missed this season because of injury. Probably 50% of them.

Another injury
How many money did we spend on this average signing? We should sell him in the summer if someone offers 30 M.

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
really bad. He spent more time injured and playing unfit then fit. I mean every 3 decent games he gets injured, then after he recovers he spends some 1-2 games not fully 100% after injury, and the cycle begins again. The is why i cant decide whether he is good or not as he never had a long spell to get accustomed with us.

Average signing? he has played 30 games, he has scored 15 goals and has 5 assist. For a first season that is pretty good and scored(2 against real madrid), especially considering that alot of our players have not had their best season and he is not known for his finishing.
But his injury problems does worry me...

I hope so. I like him a lot. But if he keeps getting injured like this year it will be no good for him.
Also he is in doubt for Copa del Rey final.
Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Yeah, his fragility has been a concern this season but I don't recall him having injuries issues before...Let's just hope a year with the club's staff will keep him healthier
I do think year two will be better, without question...He is a massive talent with exactly the sort of edge needed for a team with the awesome array of talent it has....The only player other than Leo on the squad, IMHO, who demands a double team - at the minimum

Agree. I do find that like Fabregas, Thiago and Tello, Sanchez is only going to get better. He had to adapt to playing our style and hopefully he starts performing well early into seasoon 2 and I would like to see him play most of the pre seasons games to build that confidence.

So it turns out, Alexis was never a great dribler, he just tried and tried and tried to a terrible cost of 7.6 turnovers per game.

Stats
Also Free, you are aware Messi produces more turn overs than anyone in La Liga?
to be a top dribbler you must be prepared to risk for the chance of great reward.
That's what Sanchez has done all his career before joining Barca but since joining he took not risk mainly because Guardiola told him not too its obvious and dont anyone tell me otherwise.
And please dont shove stats in my face as they mean absolutely nothing....
Statiscally Danny Simpson is a better defender than Sagna or Ivanovic....
But is he a better defender? is he *bleep*

Alexis, off course.
Callejon should be compared with the likes of Tello or Cuenca, not a starter like Alexis.
If the comparison is with Di Maria, then I'd choose Di Maria.

Messi isn't the most dispossesed player, he is the 6th more disposessed. If stats are not an argument, why you talk about them?
Also, the difference in lost balls between Alexis and Messi is negligible.
Leo Messi 11/12:
Dribles 4,8 pg
Lost balls: 4,2 pg (2,6 disposessed + 1,6 turnovers)
Dribles/loss of ball = 1,14
Alexis Sanchez:
Dribles: 0.9 per game (pg) (43rd)
Lost balls: 4,1 (2 disposessed + 2,1 turnovers)
Dribles/loss of ball: 0,2
The part in bold is made up. There is no evidence that Guardiola ever said that, and it conflicts with reality when you see that Cuenca and Tello try to drible more than Alexis.
Alexis is lucky of the stats actually (12 goals), because for his general play, he would even attract more criticism.
Finally, I don't know who Danny Simpsons is, nor I care.

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
Of course theres no proof Guardiola said that but its obvious he did.... you just have to watch him play for Udinese and Chile to see the difference in his play to say the difference is drastic is an understatement....
Also i used the Danny Simpson part because he's an awful defender but he statistically is somehow better than the likes of Ivanovic and Sagna.... which shows how little stats should be listened to.
Watch games and make your own judgement on a player dont use stats to say why a player is better than another it just doesnt work.....
Last not but not least Sanchez has been average this season in general play but iam not sure where i or anyone else has denied that?
I know he's capable of alot more and i hope he shows it which wouldnt suprise me as he usually is meh in his first season for a new club he was the same at Udinese but he has always picked up.
So i dont just hope he does i expect him to.

Why should Guardiola tell not to dribble to a dribbling specialist ?
yet he allow Cuencea, tello etc to dribble? Makes no sense to me. Alexis cant dribble ,at least he hasnt showed it.End of.

El Nino Maravilla to explode next season
I agree with the Guardiola thing by the way, or at least that somebody told him. 2 pieces of evidence:
-On his debut he only just arrived and we just threw him on the pitch, he took on his man a number of times and tbh even though he wasn't playing like a Barca player, I preferred that daring Alexis.
-He said it himself in an interview. On his first training he was nervous and wanted to impress so he was trying to dribble everyone. Iniesta took him aside and said, "At Barca the player who has the ball the least is the most valuable" or something like that. He said that had a big impact on him, and it clearly has in his pass-back play...
At the end of the day, our hopes for next season hinge on the improvement of Villa, Pedro and Alexis. Lets back them!

I've watched all games Alexis has played this season. Stats are very useful to complement what you watch. If you want, bash me for me using stats about Vertonghen who I barely watched... but for a Barça player? Ridiculous.

Kizz, that proves that Iniesta told him not to drible much, not Guardiola. However, the dramatic thing is that Sanchez is not even able to do it well keeping it simple, as he is one of the players that loses the ball more in the entire league and has one of the lowest passing percentages at Barça.
I agree we should back him, but seeing his past history in Italy, I prefer not to see the dribling machine who loses 7.6 balls per game. That's almost twice Messi's, dribling also half times. It would ruin our gameplay leading to numerous counters.

With Udinese he dribled at a huge cost as explained (5+ disposessed per game).

Free i meant the stats you used for his performances in Italy.....
Also i get very angry every time i see stat dominated posts dont take it as a bash against someone its just how iam i cant stand it lol.
Sorry if i offended you
Also Free, Udinese are a counter attacking side its understandable there would be lots of turnovers its just the way it is iam sure Sanchez wouldnt be the only one in that team that had an immense amount of turnovers.
Isla and Di Natale among others probably did too.

Re: "El Niño Maravilla": Alexis Sanchez
I dont understand why Free, someone who obviously plays football is relying so heavy on stats to prove his point.
I think its simple.
At Udinese and for Chile, he is/was the key guy..so obviously he plays a freedom and has the onus to do whatever he likes.
For Barca, he is just a young guy playing for the best team in the world. So of course he is going to be less aggresive (if Pep told him to not dribble or not, its not really important because we cant prove or disprove it either way) and be less likely to try things.
We have seen games where he has taken people on a been aggressive, other games where he was way to conservative.
The stats? Of course the more you try things, the higher the chance of turnovers...obviously the more safe you play, the more likely your going to not turn it over.
Stats like that tell more about how someone is playing, more than their quality.
He loses alot of balls? Well duh...Udinese and Chile played ULTRA directly, its going to be more like a basketball game.

According to whoscored nope. Next Udinese player is Asamoah, who is miles behind Alexis in lost balls 7,6 vs. around 4 per game.

I have actually watched him with Udinese, dont try this you dont watch him BS
Playing for Barca is not playing for Udinese, playing in La liga is not Serie A either. Teams actually parks bus against Barca and denies space for their players ,Alexis struggles because he was always been a player who utilized space. He was a volume dribbler in Udinese, most of his dribbling were during counter attacks. He thrived with space and he was one of their least efficient players .
