I missed it due to soccer practice but I watched that video LMG.
I'm not even kidding I've got tears in my eyes.
King Eric is back. What an amazing man. My most respected player in football.
I will always have a place in my heart for Abidal.

I remember long ago, I didnt rate him, since I didnt see him enough apart from probably just the French team, but after watching Barca for a bit, he won me over. Nice reading about his comments and things, truly respectable man

Best player of the match. H e is back!!
Our problems at the CB might be solved and Abidal seems to be deserving another year.

Never seen a LB with the composure of Abidal. He still needs plenty of match sharpness but he's class.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Coming back from what he has...maybe that will be taking a big toll on him, it's too early to find out (doesn't look like it has...)
But it shows his capability... who knows, maybe he could keep up this level for a couple years. After returning from what he has, his ability to go for a couple more years looks like a given, but we'll find out.
If we even have a 50% Abidal, I'm going to prefer him...LB, CB...doesn't matter where, to anyone else we have. I agree with Benin, I'd love to see him retire here.
Again, one of my favorite players, probably not my favorite, but there is no player I respect more than Eric Abidal.
Absolute class today.

A couple of years might be too much imo . But another year at FCb + playing the WC would be just awesome

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
And by the by, Abidal was absurd today. Let us not forget, even though he didn’t look it, that it has been more than a full calendar year since he played football in anger for Barça. And as much as some want to say “it was only Levante,” the calmness on the ball, ability to read a match and covering pace, as well as almost unerringly picking out the right pass, knocked me out.
What he is missing is muscle and ultimate match fitness. But for him to be able to play 90 minutes, and play it at the quality that he did. Recall the moment in the second half, where things broke down defensively. Levante were coming up the right side, and Abidal came streaking in from the left, just like he always does, to break things up.
Clean sheet, and easily the calmest clean sheet the club has had in some time. As with Messi on offense, one player can make a difference on defense, and a significant one. If he can regain full fitness, he is the CB, short-term, that the club needs.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Immense thanks and best wishes to Eric Abidal whose departure from the club was formally announced today.
An absolutely wonderful player whose contributions in Pep's all time great team can never be forgotten. Also a great human being who showed us all how it's possible to fight even the most difficult circumstances in life.
The separation is not easy on anyone but his association with Barcelona will continue forever and hopefully he will soon be back working with us in an administrative role.

Abidal 'upset' with Barcelona following release
The Blaugrana dispensed with the French defender's services last week and, although he accepts the club's decision, he would have preferred to remain in Catalunya
Eric Abidal has admitted that he is "upset" with Barcelona's decision to release him on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old departed Camp Nou last week after six years of service, but the latter part of his stay in Catalunya was overshadowed by the diagnosis of a tumour in his liver - which required a transplant in March 2012.
But while the former Olympique Lyonnais man accepts that moving on is "a part of football", he is nonetheless rankled with the way his departure from Barca was handled.
"I do not understand it. I've fought for them and I'm in great shape. I feel better than two years ago. They gave me no reason, other than it was a 'professional' decision," he told Radio Montecarlo.
"Inevitably, [the decision to release me] calls into question my ability to continue playing football. I am the first person to judge my form.
"First of all, I will not put my life at stake. That is why I'm a little upset with the club's decision. Either way, this is football."

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Good choice but he's still below Pep Segura in the hierarchy (who is an idiot) which is a shame.
Ramon Planes as second hand to Abidal is a good move aswell.
I also read that they want to give some role at the club to Thierry Henry.

So what will his role involve mainly for those that know? These terms are so general and different at different clubs it seems?

Abidal will be the person between the squad and the board, a mediator of sorts
He will also be responsible for handling questions asked by the media
Those are his 2 main duties.
