Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Muniesa has been called up to training with the first team as a response to the Abidal news, according to Sport. Looks like he'll be the temporary replacement (or the sub of Adriano). Hope the kid makes the most of it.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
It feels wrong to discuss other leftbacks to sign here, but it is a reality so I guess I will take it over to the relevant thread.
One thing though. Does anyone know anything about Klasnic who played for Werder Breman? I believe he has a transplant of some kind and made it back. Any differences? Any hope at all for Eric?

Wow, horrible news, after what happened last year this is really upsetting.
All the best Eric, I hope to see you on the pitch soon. Makes me want to buy a shirt in his honour.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
IIRC, Klasnic got even two kidney transplants by now. From what I read he suffered from kidney failure, but I have no idea about the underlying reasons. Klasnic recovered well enough that he could take part in the Euro 2008 one year after the second transplant. The Franchise wrote:One thing though. As for liver cancer and subsequent liver failure from that, the outlook is extremely more serious. A real liver carcinoma (primary HCC) as opposed to metastases in the liver from other cancers, is always a very serious case as it is not easily maneagable. For Abidal, the main worry atm is to recover from that - unfortunately, it is very unlikely that he will return to professional football after such a medical condition.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
This is a joint message from the Arsenal section
All the best to Abidal for his operation. He is probably one of the most respected footballer out there and an excellent man off the field too. Hope the operation is a success and he gets back on the pitch as soon as possible.
This is from my man Gomis when he scored for lyon today

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Thank you rwo for the info.
RG, great post. Great touch from Gomis and Lyon overall, I assume all of them talked about it before and whoever scored would of done it.

My Sympathies.
Despite all the heartbreak he's put on me over the years from Lyon to Barca, he's class and you can't deny that.My favorite personality at Barca outside of Puyol.
Sad to see the bleak reality that this thread indicates if its contents prove true, hope he lives a long life.
One of my favourite plays of all time here, only players with spirit and soul can do stuff like this.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
Have we already lost Abidal or is he still available to play? If he is, when do we lose him?
Not that I think playing a player that will probably spend the entire time thinking about cancer is a good thing, but one more injury to a CB and we'll be phasing an injury crisis... Fontas might even play.

Re: "King" Eric Abidal
If anything, football would take Abidals mind off the problems.
But I dont think Pep or anyone else would let him play.

The prognosis after a liver transplant indicates high survival rates. But I doubt Abidal will ever attain the physical heights needed to play top flight football again.

Hope it goes well. Frankly can't see him play again, but just for the sake of them man himself I hope the operation goes smoothly.

Abidal via FB:
Inspirational man.
Hello my friends,
I hope you are well, I'm writing you to give you some news: I've started again to train indoors, for a little time now, and I would like to say a big thank you to the Catalans for their great welcoming, in Camp Nou, during the official presentation!
I thank you for your support!
Inspirational man.

Wow, what a person. I think it's unlikely he will play a competitive match ever again but if he does then
Even right now as he is training indoors, he is an inspiration to anyone.
