Hapless_Hans wrote:Meh. He was actually fantastic at the Euros. He is by far Man United's best midfielder. Should be asure starter under José tbh.
Not sure if you are joking or not (considering the opinions variation on this forum and the banter), but at the Euros I really liked him. Theoretically, he should have been the best midfielder at Man United, practically, he did play a lot last season but he wasn't in a good form. It's true that none of our midfielders played well.
In a team struggling to finish in top 4, best described by inconsistency, it's hard to be on form and shine. Martial, Rashford and Mata were the only remarkable performers last season for us. Smalling and De Gea were somehow favored by the circumstances.
To be more specific, it's easier to have stats on your side as a defender or GK at a team which has a horrible positional defense and collects many shots on target and crosses in the own box.
Schweini lost a lot of his agility, reactions, speed in the last two years but if he's played well, he can be providential. Form is for the moment, class is forever. But again, he wasn't our best midfielder last season.

Interest from Prem and overseas in Bastian Schweinsteiger apparently. @ManUtd expect to sell before deadline.

#MUFC midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is attracting significant interest, with English clubs understood to be among those keen to sign him

With Mourinho mobbing Schweini out the door, where do you think he will go?
In the PL?
Liverpool?

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
The Italian teams should be all over him, some like Ac Milan for example if he is willing to take a wage cut of course.

Not sure about the last part since you'll likely have to pay part of his wages.
He'll surely not take a pay cut just because Mourinho doesn't want him

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Hope Juve go after him. Would be an experienced, solid backup at the very least for their pogless midfield.
Would be a far better signing than Witsel or whatever that crap they're linked with.
It's either PL or a top club overseas, because not any club can pay those wages.

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Honestly, wherever he wants to go should be it, and they shouldn't worry about the wages either.
United want to offload him after one year, because they have signed two superhigh earners with Zlatan and Pogba, and now want someone off the wage bill?
Not Schweinis problem. He's got a contract. If they want him to leave, and the club he's willing to go to can't afford the whole wages, United will have to pay the difference.
It's as simple like that.
Who do these arseholes think they are?

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Pretty much, it's in both parties interest for him to leave. ManU trim their wage bill, Schwein gets to play. It's not like Schwein is on incredible wages, either. I'm sure there's a lot of mediocre players earning what he earns.
It's hilarious they're letting him go with crap like Fellaini still given a chance. It's not like their CM options are vast.
But meh, hope he sorts his situation out quick. He's too classy to be one of those wage leeches.

this. Would definitely take Schweini. He's a champion, and needs to get back in shape, which we are experts at.

I like Bastian, think he still has a lot to offer to United. Shame Mourinho doesn't think so.

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Reports from Italy saying we've offered him to Juve. Don't know how true that is.
I wonder how his older bro is feeling about it, he was so excited last summer being that he's a United supporter, and Bastian had signed. Prolly resents Mou.
Best of luck to Schweinstiger.

yep.

Serie A would be a good fit for him, hope the rumors are true, would rather see a legend like him playing there than struggling in the PL.

we will probably pay off his contract with w/e transfer fee we get tbh, wish him the best in his future endeavors, maybe Bayern will have him back since the fans think he still has so much to offer a top club.

Personally, I wouldn't have gotten emotionally involved in this or believed the reports if not for this tweet.
If Tobi Schweinsteiger tweets something like this (and yes, exactly, you remember how positive and enthusiastic he was towards Schweini being at ManU), it means they've indeed gravely disrespected Schweini.
Probably indeed put his stuff into the U18 locker room without telling him or talking to him, and he finds out the day he comes back which happens to be his birthday.
Else his brother wouldn't have tweeted something like this.

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
If it is true that anybody from Man United's staff acted with disrespect towards Schweini, I gotta say that I would be truly disappointed. We established ourselves as a honorable club with respect towards our players. It is part of the club's management, an aspect that you can also see at Barca, Real, Bayern, Juventus and other big clubs and it consists in taking care of the way the players see the club, the atmosphere and the general approach of players' needs, being in a good relationship if they are ever to leave it and make a statement about it.
Sometimes, there is stuff that I am ashamed of, for the reason that when I started to love the club and support it, I started because I saw a special culture, a special tradition and unusual connection between the staff and the players, and when I see and think of such things, that don't correlate to the values that I appreciate at the club, it makes me sad.
Beside this, it shows poor character of the persons involved (except Schweini, lol).
However, I am not sure about the meaning and the reasons behind that tweet.

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
It's weird how under reported and under criticised Jose is getting for his treatment of Schweinsteiger. Just throwing the guy out of the first team and forcing him to train with the kids, Schweinsteiger isn't some mug who has sailed through a half assed career, he was the corner stone of Bayern and German football but now he is being treated like this, *bleep* that. Hope he somehow makes his way to Anfield.

Re: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Schweinsteiger would be awesome in Italy, while going to England was a mistake, given the pace of the league.

myth...
I don't think the pace was a problem. It isn't for Eriksen, and wasn't for Lampard, Scholes, Giggs etc. when they got older.
Why did he left Bayern in the first place?

Why did he left Bayern in the first place?
Won everything with Bayern. World Cup frakking champion. Bayern has a lot of talents that play under his position, and he's naturally ceded his spot to the new generation, plus he had a very injury plagued season. He wanted a new challenge, requested a transfer and was gladly accepted due to his legend status. LVG was at ManU at that time, who he has very good relations with so it was good for all parties involved.
Schwein never had pace . Not even when he was a wide midfielder. He still has the footballing IQ to be a good player for a few years to come, IMO. Hope a lot of clubs go after him.
