Formation talk... Empty Formation talk...

Post by The_ItalianFool Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:19 am

So what formation do you predict your team will play next week?

For Juve, all signs point to the 3-5-2 being deployed. This is what i think we will field: Buffon;Bonucci(or Caceres), Barzagli, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Marchisio, Pirlo, Vidal, Giaccherini; Vucinic, Matri. Might see Quagliarella get a start since he scored, or even Borriello.

The 5 man midfield gives Pirlo room to operate, so I expect him to be just as influential in this derby as much as he was against Catania(2 assists and a goal, controlled the tempo of the match).

There's always the chance that Conte could revert to one of our previous formations... it's hard to tell with this man lol but we've been using this recently.

Knowing Allegri... It'll be 4-3-1-2 with Urby as TQ/LCM (depending whether Boateng is fit or not)

There is a big difference between Barca, Arsenal and Juve. The biggest though is that Juve have a pure regista and will be playing with a 5 man midfield to keep our players from pressing Pirlo.

The threat from the flank is still a big concern, but i think the fielding of Marchisio and Vidal with Pirlo behind them is the core of their strength.

Yeah, you dealt tremendously well, you only conceded 2.5 goals per game.

5 goals scored by divelona

MINUS

van bommel own goal
a penalty shot that xavi dived
a villa free-kick that busquets dived
a weird pedro goal that barely made it in front of the net.

that 1 goal u guys scored though the 3rd one, that one was truly nice... but the rest were more than meh's and on any other day it wouldnt have worked out for you. your sarcastic remarks are not welcome here. Were praising your team, y u become defensive? Razz

only the pedro goal had something to do with width

1 FK
1 penalty(which was BS)
1 own goal in which the play was all through the middle with keita and messi
and the last one was a through ball from Messi to Xavi, all through the middle of the pitch again.

jog on

edit:beat me to it tony lol

Ok, you deserved to win and managed our width perfectly, you convinced me. Very Happy

Ps. if we have to start judging fouls 25m. away from goal or if a goal is a bit "meh", would someone ever get credit for winning anyone?

Formation talk... Empty Re: Formation talk...

Post by Tigole Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:09 pm

The reason we have had trouble with Juve is that we try to play possession football against a team that will play deep and counter. We don't have the creative players to break down a team that can play deep and defend very well. Heck, we have trouble breaking down relegation teams that park the bus. It's no surprise that we played well versus Barcelona and Arsenal considering that we played to our strengths: Defending and Counter-attack.

The match with Juve will be a tricky one. We can either play deep and counter through the wings, or we can try to keep possession and hopefully not get scored in a counter-attack by Juve. Considering that we are without Ibra, Cassano and possibly Seedorf and Aquilani then it would be pretty stupid to try and create opportunities through possession.

Since Juve will more than likely play 3-5-2 then we should try and counter through the wings. If Boateng can play then I would play him as the most advanced player that will have the job of harassing Pirlo. I would play a 4-3-3 without a CF. I am considering that Pato isn't fit enough (which he is btw), that KPB can play, that Nesta isn't entirely match fit, that Aquilani isn't fit enough, and that Seedorf can't play. If Boateng can't play then change him with Maxi. We have to play differently and surprise Juve.

listen friend, i think we all figured out now that posting formations and teams is just a waste of time. Allegri plays 4-3-1-2 or 4-1-2-1-2 which ever way u see fit. he will never go to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-4 or wtv. hes quite stubborn when it comes to that. so get used to it Razz and KPB a the top of the 3??????????????????? really?? Razz

but your analysis is true though.

I've actually read over the news and it seems as though Pato will play this game. I'm going to revise my formation a bit.

Abate--------------Mexes--------------------Silva-------------Mesbah

--------------------------------Van Bommel
-------------------Nocerino----------------------Emmanuelson

-----------------------------------Prince
----------------------Robinho----------------Pato

******IF Prince is hurt Urby will play at TQ and Muntari will play as a Mezz'ala

Nice info guys.

I was trying to think of the strategy we will employ against you guys....

Since you are home I wouldnt be surprised to see you guys have a majority of possession, and when we dont have the ball our 3-5-2 almost switches to a 5-3-2 with quick counters.

It will be interesting to see how this game plays out.

Well KPB has the physical presence to harass in that position. As I said it's only a variant considering the amount of injuries and that Ibra can't play. It might work well or it might be a disaster, but Allegri in the end has to take more tactical risks. The lack of taking these tactical risks might keep us from winning trophies.

In the end I just hope Allegri plans the match well.
