I've always supported the 4-2-3-1 idea. this is the most reliable formation you can use. no matter what kind of player you have, no matter how much they are talented. this formation works perfectly for any team at any level.

no it doesnt.you need players who can track back,have a good work rate + 2 great dms.

4-1-2-1-2

Sort of a modified 433/442 diamond.

Best formation, only problem is at Real, ManU, Chelsea, Bayern, etc, etc... It's difficult to assemble world class players who are willing to fall in line and let the second "1" be the true star.
