Another great clash in la liga, Valencia always put up a fight against barcelona although they often end up losing because of their efficiency in front of Valdes. The copa ties were no exception

Barcelona is at home, and it's usually a wash as they are virtually untouchable on their rather watery pitch, they swim better than dolphins.

Although, this time there is a 13-point between Real and Barca, league seems over on paper, and they will have to show strength of mind not to fall trap to complacency, and let Valencia competitive spirit overcome them.

I dont expect that to happen but i think it will be another fun game to watch.

Barcelona is playing without Alves, which is an important absence, given how important he is for them in attack.

I expect a 343 anyway, with Thiago or JDS on the far right in Alves usual position.

It will be hard to pin down Mathieu without Alves on that side.

If thts the lineup, then I would fancy Valencia to get a draw. The midfield of Tino and Albelda is no joke. But since Topal scored that beauty, he might get a start. I expect:
Soldado, Jonas/piatti, Fegouli, Mathieu, Albelda, Topal/Tino, Miguel, Rami, Victor Ruiz, Alba, Alves

Looking at that team, they definitely need to replace some of the players if they are to get to a different level. For example, replace Jonas who I think is just little above average, nothing special. I am glad they are replacing Miguel (the worst player in Valencia's side) with Van der Weil (even though he is quite injury prone).

Now that they have the financing to complete their stadium, expect a new Valencia side next season. I think they will spend in the region of around 20-25 mil Euros, which is all they need. They have the depth, just not the quality.

Messi will have a field day with Victor Ruiz as one of the Cbs. Messi would be smart to pressure Ruiz and avoid Rami, if possible. Rami is what maintains the Valencia defense, Ruiz and Miguel are the root cause of the defensive troubles.
