Italy legend Dino Zoff believes Fabio Capello “did the right thing” in quitting the England job. “The conditions he found himself in were the reason.”

The two men know each other well, especially as they both hail from the Friuli region and have a long history with Juventus.

“It was his decision,” former Italy Coach Zoff told Itasportpress. “I think the conditions he found himself in were the reason he resigned.

“I expect he made all the considerations and did the right thing. Naturally, I don’t know the details, but I believe he made the right decision.”

Capello resigned after publicly criticising the FA for stripping John Terry of the captain’s armband ahead of a trial for racist insults.
