There seems to be a myth going around that we are only in the top 6 because the other sides are worse than ever and dropping more points than ever......

You busted only the part about ' dropping more points than ever' 
What you can't prove is that Newcastle is stronger than in previous years and your opponents considerably weaker

But the so called far superior teams of the past didnt get any more points on average?
