Re: AVB will he last the season ?
I think every coach made mistakes every season, I dont think last night was one of those games though.
Certaintly not to the extent Giovanni seems to be claiming.

Re: AVB will he last the season ?
Dont know what was AVBs intentions last night but it clearly didnt work out.
One can say he brought in Romeu bcz he is a neat passer so that chelsea can hold on the ball bit longer ,he also offers defensive aspects so that chelsea can protect the lead.Good intentions but what if the player was not good enough for that? thats what happened yesterday.
The big mistake of the failed plan was since AVB stopped playing kind of 4231 after that substitution,United midfield got every time and space on the ball.Scholes wouldve never control the game easilly with one man on him imo.
So AVB made a change but players didnt respond?
or AVB just overestimated his players?
any way what about give credits to SAF? Bringing on Scholes when chelsea could no longer press United midfield mentally and physically was crucial.

Re: AVB will he last the season ?
I don't think AVB's desicions were the problem he did everything right but it just didn't go his way. Simple as that.
First goal was a mistake from Ivanovic. Second goal was an unlucky decision that provoked it. Third goal was just Chicharito and Fergie's decision to play him at the right moment, when the momentum was in United's favor.

Re: AVB will he last the season ?
Dani,
If you track back in thread, you will see I did admit that everyone in that scenario was to blame including Cahill and Ivanovic. Bad management to play Luiz, especially at CB, which I'm still convinced is not the position for him yet AVB can't see that.
Granted no Terry and you ship out Alex, why not play a central pairing of Ivanovic and Cahill and give Bertrand a go at one of the fullback positions? depending if you want to use Bosingwa specifically on Valencia or not.
Anelka at 33 might be done for pace, but at least he has a brain.
The Romeu substitution is a tactical error, how can you be so blind as not to see that? You can't throw a kid into situation like that and throw your hands up after thinking "I didn't know he was going to flop" You decide to play him, its on you as a manager.]
Besides nobody said that Chelsea should jump down United's throat when 3-0 up, but the point is still to be competitive and look to be a threat going forward... AND then especially when you start leaking the goals, you must respond somehow- or otherwise the opposition only believes even more that you don't deserve your lead and they go for the kill.
Against United, If you have highly rated back four that contains Baresi and Maldini, then by all means close shop.. but you have Ivanovic at fullback who is too slow for the position imo, David Luiz (of vast ridiculed notoriety), Cahill making his competitive debut for Chelsea and Bosingwa not on his favoured flank ... not to mention Essien freshly back from a long lay off. then you say to United : Come at us bro!
Then you go to 3-1, see its probably not going to work and respond by going more defensive. Thats childs play man. You're the one that needs to get a grip!
I'm out.

Re: AVB will he last the season ?
Nothing wrong with Luiz at CB, he didnt do anything wrong.
Bertrand? Like he is ready for such a game.
Anelka at 33 might be done for pace, but at least he has a brain? Well to play on the wing you need some kind of speed do you not?
Rubbish about Romeu. Obviously he needed a defensive presence in midfield..not introducing one would of been criminal. Your the one who is blind of you cant see that.
At 3-0, it doesnt matter who you have, you dont expect to throw away the game. No team, regardless of who you have and who they have. Again, you dont want to make it an open game and give them chances, you want to make it a closed one. If you shut up shop, your whole team can defend. Why your talking about the back 4 I dont know, last I checked the whole team defends.
As for today, lol, what the hell happened?

The reasons behind Carlo's sacking will be interesting to look at if Chelsea decide to stick behind AVB lol

If anything it will just be the club keeping its word. Don't know what you're on about. It's rather the opposite.
The club will be really stupid to sack Villas-Boas, even if Chelsea don't finish Top 4.

It's posts like these that get me wondering why people hate on Roman when he sacks managers when before the sacking they'll all be talking digs at the current Chelsea coach.

Chelsea need new players. even if they sign Mourinho, they won't get result with these players.

exactly. the players dont have any signs that they want to play. the old guard of drogba lampard and cole didnt give a shit
even if avb is sacked as long as player power die down and we have a squad of players that actually wants to play and win rather than prove they know better than avb on the pitch

Re: AVB will he last the season ?
I watched Chelsea's games the last couple weeks and my god have they gotten boring to watch.
They might have the slowest, most deliberate attack I've ever seen. I mean I thought AVB played a pleasing style of football but they just look awful FWIW.
I think they need to sack him and hope to go on a run getting the new coach jolt.

AVB is coach that I don't like his tactics are not clear to the players, the team has no chemistry and his tactics are to damn close to no tactics
I think that the main problem for Torres is AVB and his tactics I may be wrong thou

Maybe I don't know , I think the pressure is his problem if he moves to lets say Tottenham or Juve or back to Spain with some coach who can motivate him or at new team with less pressure he will be back at his best
