Great news: Ganso is back!
by Juca Kfouri, most awesome journalist in Brazil. translated by me.
Excellent news for Santos FC and great news for the Seleção too: Paulo Henrique Ganso is back.
Played some very good 90 minutes at the Arena Barueri [last night, February 2].
Lively, loose, moving with lightness and touching the ball and passing the ball with the class that we all know.
It was his first performance together with Santos starting 11 in 2012.
Yes, the result is the least important, which was a mere 1-1 draw against Oeste, a team much stronger in tems of full fitness at this moment [Santos started their pre-season later than everyone else, and all the other teams have played more games than us].
The countrside team could even have won after opening the score on the first half and conceding the equalizer on the second half, a goal by Ibson, his first with the santista shirt.
Neymar did well as always, and Borges had an unhappy evening as he missed at least two sitters.
But nothing matters next to the most important thing: Ganso is whole.
And it was only to see him and Neymar that this blogger, at last, spent his time watching a São Paulo state match, with nothing else to distract him.
Hail Ganso!

rsinatra commentary: it was a great performance indeed, but Oeste is a lower division team and the São Paulo state championship is an awful competition. It was nevertheless encouraging. Rumors are that Ganso won't stay with us past July. However, he has come to understand that in order to receive good offers (that Santos might accept) from good clubs, he has to perform well in a regular basis, which last year he didn't do. Or else he'll only be receiving silly 8m offers from FC Porto which Santos will never accept (our president said there was a zero missing on the right side of that offer). So, reports claim that he's been training really well and hopefully will be playing well too. I want to see him at the Libertadores, on February 15!
Let us just hope he doesn't get injured. He's been without any injuries since October or November I think. Then, in July, good riddance.

? too bad you dont know what you're talking about. ganso in full form had an amazing display for brazil against usa in 2010 right before getting seriously injured. last year doesn't count, when people rushed his recovery and he went to copa américa not even close to full fitness. ended up getting injured again. not to mention the fact that mano menezes doesnt know what he is doing with our NT.
if you didn't watch him playing for santos and brazil in 2010, then you might as well not say anything.. 2011 he was out with injury for most of the time

I thought you rated Ganso very highly Crimson?
Great to hear that he is returning, hopefully he can avoid any further setbacks physically.

Re: Great news: Ganso is back!
I did a long long time ago
Now he's put in very sub-par performaces for Brasil and there are dozens of players in Brasil performing better who are not seriously injury prone.
The guy isn't a kid anymore and he hasn't taken the next step from showing promise to superstar.
There are at least 30 better players I could name off the top of my head who are younger and play better.
If I had to actually think about it I reckon I could get close to 50 lmao

it just seems that you're completely ignoring the fact that he was out due to injury from august 2010 to early in 2011? after that he got injured twice again, because there was no patience regarding his recovery. there's something called form: if you dont play on a regular basis, you won't reach full form.
in other words, he hasn't had the time to develop his potential. if he doesn't get injured, then we will see it.
you also seem to forget that it wasn't just ganso who underperformed for brazil.. but the whole squad had a very poor 2011. not that that's an excuse. at least he had his injuries to deal with while other players like dani alves simply sucked.
p.s. i am not here saying he is the best 21-22 year old out there atm. im just saying that he is back with good displays and if it continues like that he can certainly reach the top.

Re: Great news: Ganso is back!
btw, ganso has stated that corinthians had also made an offer for him. so, porto and corinthians already tried, and he said he's staying. "if i wanted, i would've already left."

So not only is he over-rated, a flop for Brasil, and never made it to Europe/top team despite being 22, he is also injury prone lmao.

Tell me this then
I don't see him moving in the summer, clubs have gone off him because his level of play hasn't really improved and because of how injury prone he is.
If he dosen't move this summer (which I doubt he will) then he will be looking at a move when he's 23 almost 24.
I can't remember the last Brasil AM to move at that age and do well?
Also by staying in Brasil he won't get any better, he can not bring up the level of his game, so basically that's two more years of going no where and most likely getting injured.

I never said being injury prone means being crap learn2read ffs
Jovetic has actually proven himself in Europe and for his country, just look at his performance against Liverpool.
Ganso has done none of this....

Re: Great news: Ganso is back!
Yes, but Jovetic is yet to reach his potential due to an injury... similiar to Ganso.
Do you have to 'prove yourself in Europe' to be a decent player then?

I doubt any team will pay the money they want for him this summer when there are so many better options available
Which means he will be going nowhere
Why spend 30-40mill on an unproven injury prone Brasilian, when you could buy Hazard or Gotze for the same amount?

In this current footballing climate, yes.
The best football is in Europe this isn't the 60's, this is 2012, lets be realistic.
